Book recommendations

#222818 Posted on 2020-05-14 16:49:15

So it’s me Daph here looking for some book recommendations. My birthday is on this Sunday May 17 and this year I couldn’t find much stuff I wanted. Cause my mom wanted me to get a list so I went with new bed sheets (cause the ones I have are uber comfy and I want another color. So that and then something from my sister which I don’t know yet. Then from my grandparents I succumbed to a dog collar shop on insta cause my Riley needed this gorgeous collar. Cause I’m the good dog mom XD. Then books was the last thing I wanted on my list and I’ve already asked for a couple that I like. But I’m looking for a couple more.

So here’s what interests me the most:
K9-Cops/Witness it’s a harlequin love inspired suspense books where there’s a woman whose in trouble in the book and the handsome K9 handler and his loyal K9 have to protect her from the bad guy in the book. It’s very intriguing and it has dogs, mystery and romance involved which I love.
-Romance books in general (I know I’m sappy but what can I say)
- Mystery books
-Crime books

So that’s what I’m vaguely interested in, so with that list books below with a simple blurb if you can.

Cemetery Girl
One Breath Away

Both crime books - very intense but good. The first ones that come to mind.

Oh! Also, I Am The Messenger is a crime mystery too.

All books I read awhile ago but came to mind immediately.

Dead Man's Switch & Nowhere to Hide, by Sigmund Brouwer, are books of a crime/gang series that I really enjoyed.

Code of Silence, Back Before Dark, & Beneath the Surface, by Tim Shoemaker, are books of another crime/mystery/cop series.

there's also a series by B.J Daniels that's like a romance, mystery, cop, and ranch series all in one, lol. The books in that series are Rough Rider, Dark Horse, & Dead Ringer, i think.

Also, if you're into like mystery, action kinda stuff look up Louis L'Amour. He's got a bunch of Westerns, but he's also got some mystery, crime, and adventure stories. Almost any of his are awesome reads, but I've read them all, so if you want you can PM me with a deeper interest list and i can tell some of his that would probably interest you, lol.

Some of my favorite romances - The Siren and The Selection series by Kiera Cass (2 separate series) and the Matched series by Allie Condie.

Matched is an awesome book series.

The Shatter Me series is pretty awesome too. There is a bit of romance in it.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series has also always been a favorite.

Dark Prince by Christine Feehan:: It's the first book in the Dark Series. Raven Whitney is not just any ordinary woman, she's a psychic. When she heads out of the United Stated for some rest and recuperation, she finds herself deep in the Carpathian Mountains.
Mikhail Dubrinsky is more than the Prince of his people, he's of an ancient race called Carpathians. Often mistaken for the vampires they hunt and kill, his people have also been hunted by humans to the point of near extinction. Many of the males of his kind cannot find their true Lifemate and over time either choose to meet the dawn or slip into madness becoming the most hated creature of all; a vampire.
Will a chance meeting with a human woman save the Carpathian Prince?

Losing Christina by Caroline B Cooney:: This is a young adult psychological thriller trilogy (Book 1: Fog, Book 2: Snow, Book 3: Fire) about a 13-year-old girl who leaves her island to join her friend Anya at a boarding house run by the Shevvingtons. Mr. Shevvington is also the principal at their school on the mainland. When Christina arrives, she quickly realizes that not all is as it seems. Anya is slowly losing her mind, but who will believe Christina's word against the "upstanding" Shevvingtons? Will she manage to escape, or will Christina have the same fate as her friend?

Can I recommend my namesake Sabriel by Garth Nix even though it matches none of your criteria? xD

I've read a few of the books that inspired the Bones series by Kathy Reichs, they're fairly good though not my cup of tea, I love the show though!

I haven't yet read the Castle books but they're on my shelf for sometime this summer. I simply adored the show (Nathan Fillion YAY!) Heat Wave is the first one that follows Nikki Heat's detective career.

I did a long time ago love Reading The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith back when I was in school. That's a Conman/mystery type book.

A bit out of the zone maybe, but Beka Cooper by Tamora Pierce is a fantasy type detective/police story. And I recently Read another Garth Nix book that was kinda Mystery-like Newt's Emerald.
