Ethel
Ethel huffed in exasperation, clearly having never quite grown out of her old antics. "Wow, very informational and articulate response, kiddo. Gold star."

Shane
Shane looked over when a muffled groan came from Harper, watching as she flopped onto her stomach and started mumbling about something concerning someone else named after an arrow. Or something along those lines. Shane shrugged and scooted closer, tapping his stick on her head and complaining that he was hungry. As usual, Harper ignored him.

Lorelei
Lori simply just looked at the woman in confusion. These strange people said weird things. She glanced back at the flowers to see that the one flower had died. She would leave it there, because a renchestt would eat it and the other flowers would grow better. Lori looked away from the flowers and up at Ethel again.

Fox
"I- You little!" The rest of her sentence was cut off by the fact that her face was now firmly planted in the soft mud underfoot. She pushed herself to her knees, spitting out mud while uselessly wiping the mud from her face with her mud covered hands. After a few choice words, she set her glare on her leaf friend, who was cheerfully tossing a golden key about as big as it was into the air, and the small house cat type creature it was perched on. It had the same pointy ears and fur as a normal cat, but it was..... pink? Fox wasn't sure what she was supposed to be more concerned about - the fact that it has long, butterfly like antennae protruding from it's forehead, or the fact that it was staring at her with four ruby eyes with a bug-like sheen to them. "You...." The 'cat' perked up as it was being spoken to. "Are the weirdest thing I've ever seen. You're like if a cat ate too many bugs and became what it ate! And you tripped me over! Really?" She paused in her ranting to see that the cat had ducked it's head, it's double tail dragging on the ground as it started to slink away. "No- hey, wait, I was just kidding." And when that didn't work, in the sweetest tone she could muster. "Heeeeere kitty kitty kitty!" Accompanied by whatever dumb clicking sounds cats usually liked, and the cat turned back around, eyeing Fox hesitantly. "Yeah, there we go...." She stretched out her hand slowly, fingers ever so slightly brushing the key, as the cat scampered backwards out of reach. This time, Fox was fortunate enough to catch herself before returning to the mud. She sighed, wiping the remaining mud off of her face until only a couple streaks remained, and turned to the duo, eyes narrowed. "You, Pinkie, are single handedly the most annoying thing to pester me, maybe ever." The cat just gave what sounded like a terrible hybrid of a snicker and a hiss, running up her arm to carefully curl around her neck like a self heating scarf - not what she wanted or needed in this temperature, but they were guiding her, and she had a feeling that key was probably important. "....Just this once." She retrived her sword from the muddy path, continuing on her terrible uphill trek with her two new passengers.

Shane
Shane glared at Harper's now asleep figure, growling in the back of his throat at how irresponsive she was being. He finally resolved to go find or kill food for the both of them (yes, he's been out hunting before). After getting up and dropping Chicken Slayer into the ground next to Harper's head, he went back into the forest. Much to his dismay, he only had one arrow, which was hardly enough to kill an animal, let alone injure one. Therefore he decided he'd leave behind any thoughts of hunting, and instead tried to find vegetation that wasn't poisonous. The only problem- he had never seen any of these plants before, except for grass, which he knew from experience didn't taste too great and was never fulfilling to the stomach (he had tried to live off of grass for one whole day- don't ask why). Minutes passed by too quickly, and still he found nothing worth while to eat. He did manage to come across a few feathers and sticks, which he decided he could try to make into arrows at some point. Everything around here seemed relatively quiet and harmless, so he doubted he'd need anything of rediculously high standards to make a few defense-arrows with.
Time passed by, but still Shane found nothing to eat. A few small creatures had been scuttling across the trees, seemingly quite harmless, but Shane couldn't help but feel like they could've easily killed him within seconds if he dared to think anything less of them than dangerous. Shane made the pocket knife form into it's bow form, keeping one hand on his arrow and swinging the bow across his chest again. The process forced him to drop everything, which resulted in him deciding to sit down and take a thirty-five minute break from his little journey. As he was playing with the dirt that lay across the ground, he heard a depressing squeal, then before he could react, a poor little dragon-like creature fell from a tree right next to Shane, dead. Blood was smeared across the tiny body, making Shane realize this place wasn't at all as nice as it seemed. After a second of trying to mentally comprehend what had happened, the boy looked up to make sure there was no danger, then carefully scooped the lifeless form into his hands. It looked like it had died painfully, judging by the twisted expression on it's snout. "You poor little creature- who murdered you so recklessly?" Shane muttered, standing up and looking around for a place to bury the dragon. Not long after, Shane had managed to make a small funeral the body, then turned around to find another small dragon by his stuff. This one was significantly smaller, with different colouring. The only similarity of the two dragons was the general body shape and the eyes. Worst of all, however, the new appearance was sitting by the ground on which the dead dragon had fallen to, it's ears dropping and his long, feather tail curled around it's front paws. Shane wasn't sure if this baby (he had concluded it was) was in danger or not, but he slowly approached it, watching as it made soft moaning noises with it's eyes fluttering between opened and closed. If the poor thing could've cried tears, Shane figured it would have been crying enough to fill a pond.
Sitting down next to the dragon didn't make it move at all, so Shane tentatively picked it up, cupping it against his chest as it trembled lightly in his hands. Shane wasn't sure if the babe could understand human actions, but he proceeded to hum softly to it, hoping it would calm down after a moment.

Ethel
She let out a long sigh, muttering crossly under her breath as she trudged the rest of the way up to the strange girl and squatted down beside her, eyeing the flowers with an eyebrow raised in confused skepticism. "What's the deal with these?," she inquired tersely, gesturing to the small plants as she made reference to them.

Lorelei
Lori looked at the flowers again, reaching out and cradling the dead one in her hand. She paused, reconsidering her previous decision to leave it with the rest. It had been sick, and she wasn't sure if it was an ailment that would spread to the others. "They're pretty," she said to Ethel. "This one was hurting. I helped it."

Ethel
An unwanted truckload of memories slammed into Ethel all at once; her hand drifted to one of the pockets on the inside of her jacket (overalls and a jacket? absolutely) out of pure instinct, though it grasped nothing, instead just slowly drifting back down to her side as she regained control of what showed itself in her mind. "Um- Yeah. Cool. Do that," she choked out, shaking her head slightly as if the action could shake the past away.

Lorelei
Lori giggled when a bee landed on her outstretched hand. After realizing she wasn't a flower and had nothing to offer, it drifted away. She stood, eyeing the nearby trees, and glanced at Ethel. "The bees live over there." She pointed vaguely at the trees. "If we're nice, we can get honey. Do you want to come?"

Fox
Fox dug her heels into the soft ground, ignoring Pinkie's annoyed hiss and the soft clink! of the key landing on the now grass as she stared down the field of flowers, not budging an inch. "If I have to go through another field, I can promise you that I'm going to cry." She told her companions, as the mud streaked trio teetered on the edge of the forest and the wildflower field.

Verena
Verena paused as the boy stopped to help the dragons. "He's still got the bow," she muttered, but she carefully glided to the ground and stayed there, crouched at the foot of the tree for a minute before straightening and approaching quietly.

Shane
Shane glanced up, seeing the girl but still keeping up his humming. The little twerp in his hands had stopped trembling and was starting to get slightly curious as to what was happening, but it still stayed within the refuge Shane provided. The last thing Shane wanted was for it to get scared, run away and risk getting killed by whatever had killed the other.

Ethel
Ethel peered up at the girl for several moments, studying her with an unreadable expression, before standing. "It's not like I have anything else to do, so sure," she replied as she stood, halfheartedly brushing off her dirtied overalls, soon ceasing the effort.

Lorelei
Lori nodded and started to walk across the field to the woodline. She followed the flight of a nearby bee with her eyes, then glanced at the trees. "They live there." Lori pointed to a tree, just a little way into the forest. When she almost reached the first trees she paused and turned to Ethel. "Where are you keeping the other spirits? There's yours and then there are others, but you aren't holding anything."

Ethel
"...What? What spirits?," Ethel asked, eyes narrowing in guarded confusion. It was a bad habit of hers, one she'd had for the majority of her life, to automatically assume someone had ill intent whenever she thought something they said was reason for confusion or concern. "I don't have any spirits with me. I don't know what you're talking about, kid."
