Lorelei
Confusion splayed across her face. She'd never felt a spirit that wasn't there. And nothing had more than one spirit. Maybe she was mixed up for some reason, but that had never happened before. "There are spirits," Lori insisted, not sure what else to do.

Ethel
"No, there ar- Wait," she started, cutting herself off. She blinked rather blankly, her stare directed toward the trees but fixed on nothing; it took her a moment to pull herself out of it and recover from her realization. Ethel shut her mouth, which had been hanging open, and finally turned to glare down at Lori. "There are no spirits. I don't know what you are talking about," she spat lowly, drawing herself up and adjusting the straps of her overalls before trudging purposelessly into the woods.

Lorelei
She paused, not convinced, and then scampered after Ethel. She would have to figure out why she was feeling spirits that didn't exist later. "Wait, the bees are over here!" Lori called, stumbling over a tree root. She mumbled an apology and slowed down. "If you go that way you'll disturb the doperfets."

Ethel
Ethel tossed her hands up in the air in a vague, though clearly exasperated, gesture, but it wasn't quite necessary, as her loud and irritated groan was more than sufficient. "Of course I will!," she spat, the statement loud enough to be heard despite the fact that it was intended for herself. However, despite her evident discontent, she turned around and stomped up to Lori, crossing her arms when she halted. "Well? Lead the way, hun."

Lorelei
"Try not to scare them or you'll be stung." Lori turned and walked the rest of the way to the tree where, in the lower branches, hung a bee hive. She pulled herself up onto a nearby branch and sat down, humming as she inched toward the hive. A few bees came over to look at her curiously and she smiled at a couple of them, not at all fazed when some landed on her.

Ethel
Despite her frustration and reluctance, Ethel dutifully followed the girl, coming to a stop a short distance from the tree. She peered up at Lori as she moved toward the hive, eyebrows raised in skepticism of her plan. "...And you're sure they aren't gonna attack you? Because I'll tell you right now, I'm not above leaving a kid to die if killer bees are involved."

Lorelei
She looked down from her perch on the branch and nodded. "They've never hurt me." Lori arrived at the hive after a bit more careful scooting and studies it for a moment. She had to decide the best way to go about this. Destroying the hive was a necessary evil to get the honey, so she only did it every so often. Lori's humming switched to soft singing and, after a moment, she broke a hole in the hive with a stick she snapped off the branch. The bees buzzed lazily around her and she reached into their home for the honeycomb.

Ethel
Ethel flinched slightly when Lori busted the hive, eyeing the bees nervously. "And you trust them not to surprise you? Stuff's dangerous here, kid. Deadly. I'd get down now if I were you."

Lorelei
The only response she gave was a small shake of the head, since her hands were preoccupied and her singing was keeping the bees calm. Lori broke off a piece of honeycomb, set it in her lap for now, and reached back in for one more. After retracting her hand from inside the hive, she picked up both shards of honeycomb and started sliding back down the branch, moving slowly away from the hive.

Ethel
She watched Lorelei slide back down the tree in dumbfounded awe, watching the  girl carefully in case she fell and got swarmed by the bees. Luckily, no such thing happened. "Unbelievable," Ethel mused to herself. "I never coulda done that."

Lorelei
Her feet landed gently on the leaf litter and she walked over to Ethel. “Here you go,” Lori said, offering her one of the honeycomb pieces. “I’m not sure how much longer the bees will be nice,” she commented as she started to walk again. She nibbled on her small piece of honeycomb, eating the wax and honey indiscriminately.

Ethel
Ethel hesitated for a moment once she took the honeycomb, looking back at the hive apprehensively before quickly catching up with Lori. "What other sorts of magical stuff can you do? Like, besides singing to flowers and bees and sensing, y'know, spirits or whatever."

Lorelei
Lori shrugged, fingers covered in honey. "I can feel hurt." This was normal to her, but based on the boysb reaction earlier, not everyone could. "When I touch something with a spirit, if it's hurting, I can feel it."
