Stupid spiders...

At least I think it was a spider. Now that the weather is getting warmer here on the east coast I've been able to get out on the trails and enjoy time with Nora. 

And then it decided to rain last week so I groomed Nora and put her rain sheet on. The next day when one of the other co-op boarders took it off they found a bug bite that was red and infected right by where the girth sits on her side. There was hair and blood around a circular area on the blanket. For a couple days after the skin peeled away and actually pigmentation of her skin was peeling off in like an inch or so around the bite. Since then I've been at the barn twice a day cleaning and medicating the bite. Then the bugs were in it so I had to bring her in during the day. She's a 24/7 field horse normally so that was fun. 

BUT a week later and I think we have turned the corner! To see progress of her bite feel free to click here. There is some blood and grossness. Of course now she has developed a minor case of rain rot. The vet comes tomorrow for spring shots so I'm going to have her take a peek at it but I think we're on the right track! Still going to be spotty on EV until this gets all healed up. 

Ewww... Glad to see it is getting better though, hope everything is ok with the vet!

Ouchie! Looks much better in the last pic though -- glad to see it's healing after all the effort you've out into tending to it!

Awww poor sweet girl!! That looks very ouchy, but seeing the pictures it is healing up very nicely! I'm glad that she is doing alright and that its healing nicely as well. ♥ ♥
