Only The Strong Survive

Ahanu
"I'm sorry, guys. I know you're trying to cheer me up, but I'm just not in the mood. Thanks, though." He gave them each some petting. "I'll give you guys some treats later." He nudged them back toward the hu and watched as they reluctantly trotted away, slipping around the corner and disappearing. Ahanu stood and returned to the railing. 

Auberon
Aubeton rolled his eyes and gritted his teeth, cutting Charity off from saying anything. "Sit down- I'll deal with you soon," he assured, getting up and going out onto the deck, making sure to let the rats pass by. He found Ahanu and walked up to him after running his hand through his hair. "Well, hi."

Ahanu
He jumped, startled, and glanced at Auberon. His first instinct had been to reach for his gum but he had stopped his hand. His shoulders sagged a little bit and he turned back to the green. "Hi." 

Auberon
"So, my sister came crying to me and I was kinda happy cause, pfft- I finally get to kill you. And then I found you crying to and realized I need an explination now or I would just feel guilty about it," Auberon explained, not trying to disguise the disappointment in his voice.

Ahanu
"She's crying?" Ahanu repeated quietly, guilt twisting his stomach. "I don't really know what happened. She woke up from a dream and wouldn't respond at first. She was acting all distant and strange. I asked if she wanted me to go and while she said no, her tone said yes." He shrugged. "It felt like she was having second thoughts. I-I didn't want to push her." 

Auberon
Auberon stared at him quietly. "Wait- I didn't sign up to give relationship advice," he complained. "I know nada about females- except for the fact you should probably try figuring it out based off what condition they are in more than their tone," he said, looking down at the ground after. "Well, actually don't quote me on that- I'm still confused. But yeah take that advice with a grain of salt, but also seriously because I mean it. So to put it in a very blunt matter- shut up and just don't think twice about anything. They talk so just let them talk it out and then they'll be fine. Or give them choc- I mean something they like." Auberon was silent for a minute still staring at the ground. He heaved a sigh and looked out at the forest. "Now fly little bird- that way if I do end up having to push you off you won't die. Figure it out with her."

Ahanu
She wouldn't talk, though. Ahanu sighed and pushed away from the railing. "Okay," he muttered, walking back the way he came. "Charity?"

Charity
Charity looked out at Ahanu when he called, wiping her eyes. "I'm in here," she called quietly from Auberons' bed.

Ahanu
He turned into the hut and stopped, shifting uncertainty for a moment. He glanced at his feet and then crossed the floor. Sinking onto the edge of the mattress with a bit if space between them, he glanced over at her. "I wasn't trying to make you cry. I'm sorry."

Charity
"It wasn't you that made me cry," she mumbled, looking down at the floor.

Ahanu
"Oh. Auber- do you want to talk about it? Or anything, really."

Charity
Charity sniffled. "Yeah, sure... What did Auberon say?"

Ahanu
"He, uh, basically just told me to talk to you and work it out." Ahanu looked at his rats, who had curled up on his blanket. They were watching him, though, and he sent a weary smile their way to assure them he was fine.

Charity
Charity nodded, scooting her hands under her legs nervously.

Ahanu

He worked up his courage to say what he needed to ask. "Why weren't you responding earlier? And you didn't react when I - You didn't hug me back. You looked terrified and panicked. If I - I don't want to scare you." Ahanu slipped an annoying strand of hair behind his ear, looking at the deck.
