Only The Strong Survive

Charity
"Bad dream... Sorry," she mumbled.

Ahanu
"No, you're okay. I'm sorry for overreacting." Ahanu glanced over at her. "What was your dream?"

Charity
Charity avoid eye contact by staring at deck blankly. "I don't really know... it just didn't feel right "

Ahanu
What had happened? Surely the dream must have been more to warrant this reaction, unless it truly was something else. Ahanu studied the floorboards again, sighing quietly. "How can I help?"

Charity
Charity finally looked over at him, although she knew it was reluctantly. She went to say something, then thought better of it. She instead mumbled, "Whatever you feel is best."

Ahanu
An alarmed expression flit across his face. "But - Charity - I..." he paused, ran a hand through his hair. "I don't know what to do," the admission finally came quietly.

Charity
Charity shrugged. She didn't know what to do either, and she was starting to feel a bit desperate for someone to just make up her mind for her.

Ahanu
"Please. There has to be something that improves your mood. I can try and get it for you?" 

Charity
Charity glanced at the ground again, exhaling quietly through her nose. "I really don't know."

Ahanu
Thanks, Auberon, for having me talk to someone who doesn't want to talk to me. He tentatively slipped one of her hands out and held it in his. 

Charity
Charity took her hand away from Ahanu's, mentally wondering what made her do that. She vexed her brain, trying to figure out what had happened in her dream that caused her to separate from Ahanu. She didn't want to mislead him- but the emotions from her dream still lingered in her soul. She blinked a couple times, wiping her eyes again and sniffling.

Ahanu
The moment she pulled her hand away was the moment his doubts, kept at bay, slammed into him once more. But not only that. Now he was even more unsure of how to help her, and he loathed the feeling of being useless that settled over him. Ahanu slowly drew his hand back, setting it on his lap and staring blankly at it. "What-" his voice cracked, and he cleared his throat, an embarrassed pink creeping onto his face. "Is there anything you want to say or talk about?"

Charity
"I need a translator..." Charity muttered under her breath, sighing quietly afterwards. "Um... ish?" Well, yeah, I just won't. Or can't...

Ahanu 
"What?" Ahanu asked as kindly as he could, though his utter confusion slipped  through. A small sound pulled his eyes away from staring blankly at his hands, and he looked up to see the fawn rat had tumbled off the bed. He would have gone to help her but he didn't want Charity to think he didn't care. Or just miss what she said. Luckily the rat was able to climb back up herself.

Chatity wanted to say something, but truthfully, she didn't know what to say. And even if she did, she doubted she would have been able to explain it. She sighed miserably and stared at the ground.
