Only The Strong Survive

Ahanu 
He nodded. "You can use the pillow. Want the blanket? I can reach it."

Charity
Charity finally gave in, using the pillow under her head, but still stay cuddled into his side. "Sure," she mumbled about the blanket.

Ahanu
He reached out and caught the corner of the blanket with his fingers. They had moved somehow so they were no long sitting on the throw. He yanked it over and settled it on top of Charity. 

Charity
Charity smiled, quietly exhaling happily. "Thanks..." she mumbled, slipping into a very dark sleep.

Ahanu
He opened his mouth to say "no problem," but a quick glance over told him it would fall on deaf ears. She was asleep. Ahanu stared up at the leaves and snippets of sky above him, trying to sort out his thoughts and feelings.

Charity
Charity found herself in the middle of a bad dream, but she didnt know completely what it was about. All she could feel were emotions- bad ones.

Ahanu
If only he could simply enjoy this. He felt terrible for having dumped his baggage on Charity, but she didn't seem to mind and had helped a lot. He really didn't deserve any of this. Ahanu sighed quietly and forced himself to stop worrying about it. He jumped to thinking about his rats.

Charity
The dream (or emotions idk), kept going on and on until she had finally had had enough. She jolted out of her dream and bolted upright, breathing somewhat heavily, though she did it through her nose so Ahanu wouldn't know.

Ahanu
He looked up at her and, more slowly, sat up. "Hey, it's okay. Just a dream." Her chest was heaving, giving away her heavy breathing. Ahanu pulled her into a hug and rubbed her back. 

Charity
Charity heard Ahanu's voice, but it sounded far off, like part if her had decided to shut him out and not care about him or what he had to say. She wanted to push him away when he hugged her, but the other part forced her to stay where she was, convinced it was for her better. 

Ahanu
He leaned back, studying her distant expression. "Charity?"

Charity
Charity gazed into infinity momentarily, raising her eyebrows when he said her name, but still almost unnable to hear him. She tilted her head unnoticeably, trying to figure out what was wrong with her.

Ahanu
"Ch-Charity?" He stuttered, arms drooping to his side. He fought the sudden panic climbing up his throat.

Charity
Charity closed her eyes, trying to regain her senses for a moment. Ahanu's voice finally got to her head, and she opened her eyes again slowly. "Hmm...?" 

Ahanu 

He threw his arms back around her. "You scared me," he laughed nervously. He stole a quick kiss out of relief.
