Charity
"Oh, um... sorry..." she mumbled quietly, fighting every muscle in her body that told her to run and hide. 

Ahanu
"It's okay. What's wrong?" 

Charity
Charity took a deep breath, feeling a few tears rolled down her face without warning. She shut her eyes tight, holding the breath she had taken in to avoid any physical trembling. She finally let it out quietly, blinking her eyes open. "N-nothing."

Ahanu
His brow furrowed and he brushed away the tears. "If you don't want to tell me, that's alright. I'm just here to help any way I can. I'd like you to tell me, but again, don't feel like you have to, okay?" 

Charity
Charity finally gave into the trembling, closing her eyes again and taking a few deep breaths. "Okay... thanks."

Ahanu
It was hard to see her like this. He felt so useless, unsure how to help. "Was it your dream?" His hands slipped into hers. Her shaking scared him and he would have liked nothing more than to pull her close and hold her until they stopped. But she had been stiff and almost reluctant when he had hugged her upon first waking.

Charity
"I dunno," she mumbled, still confused herself about what had stabbed her mercilessly in the heart.

Ahanu
She doesn't want to talk about it. I probably did somethin.  See, I knew moving this fast would result in it ending fast. "Okay. That's- it's alright. I can go if you - I can leave if you'd like."

Charity
Charity was about to tell him she did want to be alone, but she hesitated before it could come out of her mouth. It was just a dream.... don't take it personally. "No, it's- stay," she managed, though she doubted it sounded convincing. 

Ahanu
"It's okay," Ahanu said, already pulling away. Her tone told him enough, despite her trying to be polite. "If - If you don't want this to continue, just tell me. I - It's up to you. I'm sorry for - for messing up so much. I wish I could help you." He let his one hand linger in hers, lifting it up slowly. He kissed the back of her hand, to say he still wanted this if she did, before standing and hurrying away. The tears he had held back spilled over as he arrived at the railing out of eyesight.

Charity
Wow... that went great. Charity sighed and curled back up on the floor, surprised by how painful the silence felt. She hadn't meant it like that at all- can't a girl be emotional without a guy flipping out? The tears flowed down her face again, although it wasn't from Ahanu leaving like that- more so from the fear that still lingered against her heart after her dream.

Ahanu 
He brushed at his eyes and took a couple deep breaths. Calm down. It's probably not as bad as I think it is. As is typically the case. Ahanu stared at the forest floor. This was great. Right when he was gaining ground on silencing the doubts. 

Charity
Charity bit her lip, glancing over at the still sleeping form of her brother, half wishing he was awake so she could curl up against him and cry. Unfortunately, that thought just made her cry even more. Ahanu come back please... just somehow read my mind because I'm too stupid to say it out loud.

Ahanu
He slumped further against the rail. His mind was currently reminding him of every little mistake, explaining its logic all over again, telling him it was destined to not work out. Ahanu dug a tissue from his pocket and shoved it against his eyes. The tears stubbornly continued, and he felt way too vulnerable. He finally managed to get them under control and he pocketed the tissue. With red-rimmed eyes, Ahanu watched a squirrel look about furtively. The scamper of tiny paws on wood caught his attention and he turned slightly to see his rats sprinting toward him. He stepped hurriedly from the edge and scooped them up, plopping onto the deck with his legs crossed. "Hi, girls," he said wearily. The gray rat jumped off his lap and ran in a circle, inviting him to play. The fawn rat curled into a ball and blinked blissfully at him.

Charity
Charity reluctantly got up, going over to Auberons' bed and shaking him awake. Luckily (although Charity couldn't decide if it was actually a good or bad thing), Auberon woke up, blinking at Charity momentarily before sitting up. "What's wrong?" he mumbled, blinking again and looking around for Ahanu.
