"Are you comfortable there?" he asked, still marvelling over the softness of her hair.

Charity
Charity chuckled. "Yes. I wouldn't be laying in this possition if I wasn't.

Ahanu
"Oh. Right. Sorry." Her eyes were still closed, and his hand still drifted through her hair. His other hand was free, so he reached for his water bottle and took a sip. He looked out at the trees a moment before returning his gaze to her. I just met her. I need to slow down and take it at a more natural pace... Which I can do. Right? The position was almost perfect and he dipped his head down, leaving a quick kiss on her forehead. Okay apparently I can't do it. You just met her, Ahanu. Slow. Down. Before you lose her. If I keep going like this she'll get creeped out.

Charity
Charity smiled. "You're fine," she mumbled quietly. Her heart skipped a few beats when he kissed her, which she was almost certain her heart beats could be heard by now.

Ahanu
He pulled his head up quickly, withdrawing his hand from her hair and resting it awkwardly by his side. "I... I'm sorry. I shouldn't... We just met, and I don't want you to feel rushed. I'm rushing things. I'm sorry. It's - it's not - sorry." It's not natural? It's not your fault? It's not okay for me to do this? What am I even trying to say? All I know is I feel like I'm messing up.

Charity
Charity, furrowed her eyebrows, then fluttered her eyes open and sat up. "What? I don't feel rushed," she assured, momentarily confused. She stared at the ground for a couple seconds, trying to gather her wits quietly. After sighing, she looked back up at him. "If you were rushing things I would've let you know a while ago. You're not doing anything wrong."

Ahanu
He looked at the deck and ran a hand through his hair. "I - We just met. I can't... I don't know why, but for some reason that won't leave my mind. It's my whole overthinking thing. But, uh, I just - I feel like I'm the rope in a game of tug-of-war. One side of me wants me to slow down, yells at me that I'm going to fast, we just met and I'm messing up, doing something wrong." Ahanu's voice was quiet, a little shaky. He didn't look away from the deck and his hands twisted together nervously. "The other part is saying the opposite, that it's fine. I'm drawn to you, and it says that everything is alright. And when it seems like one is finally winning, the other pulls even stronger. But mostly the - the more negative side, I guess it can be called that, has been winning." He paused, took another drink of his water. "And I can see where it's coming from. We literally met today. In only a few short hours, we're here? It doesn't seem real, much less acceptable. I- I'm constantly filled with this doubt that you don't want it or even if you do now if we keep moving this fast you won't later." 

Charity
Charity listened to him quietly, looking into his eyes even though he wasn't looking into hers. Once he was finally done, she stayed still for a moment, silently debating what to say or how to say it. She looked down at his hands and sighed, slipoing both of her hands into his as to stop their fidgeting. "You don't need to worry abnout what I do or do not want. That's my decision and there is nothing you could say or do to change that. I want this- I know you do to, and I don't know what the future will bring, but I can promise you I'll be by your side as long as the world spins on," she mumbled in a quiet tone. "You aren't messing anything up, and even if you did I wouldn't care. You're human- I don't expect you to be perfect. If I wanted someone who was perfect I might as well die a lonely death because I was searching for something that doesn't exist."

"Are you..." He trailed off, looking at their hands as he blinked his eyes a couple times. "You mean that?" It came out as a whisper, and he finally looked up at her. "I'm not sure if I'll stop overthinking all this, but thank you; it helped."

Charity
"I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it," she replied, then kissed him on the cheek. 

Ahanu
The gesture hit him hard, and he tugged his hands free so he could pull her into a hug. "Thank you," he murmured again. "I'm sorry I threw this at you."

Charity
Charity wrapped her arms around him gladly. "My pleasure," she whispered. 

Ahanu
"What time is it?" Ahanu muttered. He wondered how long it would take for the doubt to come creeping back. Or body-slam back. It was capable of being both subtle and very noticeable.

Charity
"I dunno," Charity muttered, closing her eyes and resting into his chest. His body warmth somehow never failed to make her relaxed, and just generally being with him made her happy inside.

Ahanu
He felt her sink into him and wasn't sure what to think anymore. His mind was a confusing war zone and he wanted it to stop. At least a little bit of peace from the doubt. "How do I make my brain shut up?"
