Auberon
Auberon stood there for a minute, then sat (half falling) onto the floor in front of Chance. "So about the whole... shapeshifting thing that happened. I wanted to make sure you weren't having issues because of that or something."

Chance
"Oh." Truthfully, he had almost forgotten about that, having pushed it aside in an attempt to keep from thinking too hard about it. He'd rationalized it by convincing himself it'd just been his brain being weird. "I was kind of hoping I had imagined it." Chance was about to ask how that was possible, but decided he might not even want to know. "I'll probably be fine." 

Auberon
Auberon examined Chance for a moment, then nodded. "Good."

Chance
He really hated not having his guitar. Why had it only just now struck him? Chance told himself to calm down, but it wasn't very effective. He decided to try and think about something else. Is that all Auberon wanted to talk about? That didn't last long.

Auberon
Auberon was gonna get up, but his senses told him not to and he ended up just staring at Chance for five minutes. He finally tilted his head slightly, muttering, "You seem nervous."

Chance
Chance's head moved just a little in a nod. "I didn't bring my guitar and I feel weird without it," he replied quietly. 

Auberon
"That's understandable." Aub glanced at the wall, then looked down at the floor. "I- I'm here if you want to talk or anything. I'm not much help, but I'll listen."

Chance
He shrugged. "It's just my guitar. It's not like I can take it everywhere, I need to get used to it." Chance looked at his hands for a moment, adding on to himself, is it the guitar or the notebook I need most? I can't really tell at this point.

"Yes, well-" Aub stood up unsteadily. "If I said that about multiple things, I'd be dead or at least losing a lot of blood. If it helps, it helps, and that's not necessarily something you should get used to not having around."

Chance
He shrugged again, not sure how to reply. It wasn't practical to carry his guitar everywhere. Someday he'd need to be able to go without it. 

Auberon
Auberon left it at that, walking back to his room and closing the door. He flopped down on his bed with a sigh, closing his eyes and dozing lightly.

Mason
 Mason had flopped down on the couch and had been fiddling with the bass guitar, too preoccupied to listen in on their conversation. His eyes drifted to the amp, which he'd moved to the ground; he shrugged slightly to himself, reaching down and plugging the bass into it. "Not sure if this'll work, but it's worth a try for now," he murmured, shifting back into his seat and plucking a couple of the strings. He smiled faintly, pleased with the fact that the amp seemed to do a good enough job handling the bass' sound.

Chance
He watched Mason for a moment before getting the courage to say something. "Um, Mason? Can we go get my guitar? I left it with my mom." 

Mason
 "We just got here. Use this one," he mumbled distractedly, tracing the strings of the bass with his fingers instead of actually playing them, seemingly lost in thought. He groped for the guitar for a moment before taking hold of it and passing it over to Chance, quickly resuming silently playing the song. "I got that from my buddy Tyler in exchange for teaching him how to play it. It's complete crap, but it works," Mason informed him, not taking his eyes off of the instrument in his own hands; as the editor, I feel the need to inform any readers that he did not actually say 'crap,' but I have made the executive decision to censor his word choice. "It's an electric one, so you'll need an amp if you want it to sound decent," he continued, only half paying attention to what he was saying, despite the words being his own, "so- Here," he finished, gesturing vaguely to the device at his feet.

Chance
"... okay," he muttered, taking the electric guitar. He'd never played one before, and besides, it wasn't his guitar. After staring at it for a moment, Chance set it down and put his hands in his pocket. His fingers bumped his phone and he pulled it out. His mom hadn't tried to contact him, and of course nobody else would have sent him anything. Even so, some days (and times like this, especially) Chance couldn't help but hope that somehow he would see a text from Jay. He sighed and put the phone back, keeping his hands in his pocket for lack of something to do with them.
