Ashwin
He walked into a flower shop and glanced around. He didn't even have to ask the staff, because he spotted her. He spoke quickly and quietly into his transmitter and then walked over to the display the girl was at. "I'm sorry, Miss, but you're under arrest. It'll be better for you if you cooperate." Ash was often the brunt of jokes about being the nicest patrolman, but he had friends who were polite as well. They just hid it from the others, whereas Ash didnt. He didn't see a problem with it.

Nyla
She looked at the patrolman wide-eyed, gaze cutting to the girl. She shrugged and returned to the flowers. This one was really pretty. It was multi-colored, which was why she loved it. It had so many colors, the flowers all the same shape but almost every one a different color than the next. She picked up the pot with some exertion and carried it the counter, reaching up to place it there. "How much is this one?" she asked.

Skye
Skye really didn't want to deal with this right now- especially not here. Are you really sorry? she wanted to ask. Is curiosity illegal or something? It's not my fault this whole world we live in is wrong. Why don't you arrest the people behind it? Skye ignored him and walked out of the shop.

Perry
He took the girl's money, about to ask her what she'd meant before getting cut off by a patrolman entering his shop. He watched as the guy, who he vaguely recognized, confronted the girl, who was apparently some sort of criminal. Perry finally dragged his eyes away from the scene, turning to look at the little girl. "Two dollars and fifty cents."

Mason
Mason shook his head. "It's different this time, Kaylee. It just... It feels off; final. I think you know that."

Ashwin
He sighed and followed her, easily catching hold of her wrist once outside and pulling her to a stop. "Please, just cooperate. It makes it easier on everyone, especially you."

Nyla
"Oh." She bit her lip and recounted the money. Either she miscounted last time or this time, but now she had just enough. She handed it over.

Skye
Skye froze. What was it with people and her right hand?! Breathe. Don't react. "Fine. But it's not my fault that there are things that 'need' to be hidden from the public in this society. Keep that in mind."

Kaylee
Kaylee ground her teeth, refusing to meet Mason's eyes as she watched the flower be moved to it's very temporary home on the bedside table. "It's fine. I'm fine."

Perry
Perry quickly thanked her for purchasing the violets before turning back to the short, dark-haired girl. He counted the money that he'd received from both of them and nodded, adding it to what he'd gotten from the young man and the criminal. After he stashed the money in the cash register, which hardly worked, he looked back down at his small customer. "...What's wrong? You look kind of upset."

Mason
He huffed in disbelief. "No, no you're not." He paused, debating whether or not to go on. "...Why'd you do it?"

He shrugged. "Rules are rules. I don't question them, neither should you. And for the record, I barely know more about that stuff than you." He unhooked some cuffs from his belt just to make sure she wouldn't run off. He cuffed the hand he was holding and then his own. If he did both her hands she could still get away. After he had accomplished that he unclipped his transmitter. He reported his number and location before continuing. "I have her. Where to?" He got the location and nodded to himself. Just a questioning block, see what she was doing there. "Walk this way." He gestured down the street.

Nyla
"Hm?" She pulled herself out of her thoughts and blinked up at him. "Oh, I'm fine." Nyla smiled and reached up for the flowers. "Thank you. I was just worried I had counted wrong." She pulled the pot down and balanced it in her arms, holding the groceries with her other hand.

Skye
Since she had no choice at this point, Skye complied. 'Rules are rules.' But the question we should all be asking is why are they there?

 "Oh. Alright."
The busy atmosphere had been a welcome, albeit slightly hectic, change. I should probably go tell Mr. Porters about it, though he's probably still in bed. He winced internally. Well, no, the first person I should be telling is the bank.

Ashwin
The silence as they walked was broken only by occasional blurts from his communication device. Ash tentatively tried to start up a conversation, the quiet making him a little uneasy. He was used to it as he did his rounds, but when you're with someone else it gets uncomfortable. "So, uh, what's your name?"

Nyla
She exited the shop and made her way back home, trying not to drop the flowers. She set it down by the flower pot to get the key and unlock the door, picking it back up as she reentered. Her mother was awake now, Nyla could hear her moving through the house. Nyla hung the purse back up and closed the door, walking in with a big grin. Maybe the flowers would cheer her mother up. She set them on the table and turned to her mom, eyes sparkling. She set the groceries down as she waited for a response. Her mother eyed the flowers, countenance darkening. "Where were you?" "I went and got groceries for lunch." "What money?" Nyla swallowed and looked at her shoes. "Your purse money, Momma." In a moment Nyla shoulders were being gripped by her mother. "How much is left?" "I-I spent the rest of it on the flowers. I thought you would like them..." "THAT WAS THE LAST OF OUR MONEY, NYLA!" Nyla looked up, eyes wide and filling with tears. "I thought you had the safe. You said it was full, and you were gonna do some cleaning..." "I spent that last night. I told you not to take my money!" "I'm sorry," she whispered. "Sorry doesn't put a roof over our heads, now does it?"

"..." Once she was sure that John was preoccupied, she turned back to Mason. "It hardly matters, anyways." She muttered,.

Nyla
She nodded obediently, blinking back the tears. She would have to take the flowers back to the store. Nyla was surprised, because her mother had been so close to just ruining them completely. "The grocer doesn't give refunds," Nyla's mother fumed, tearing open the bag. "So we may as well eat it. You can get yours after you fix this mess," she tacked on when Nyla went to sit down. "You'll have to sell your rock collection. Bring the book I gave you so you can explain their value." Nyla's mouth dropped open and she gaped at her. "But-" "Don't argue. We have to make sacrifices if we're going to get any money." "But they can't be worth much. They're just rocks!" "That's not what you told me when you started collecting them. Now go get the money for the flowers back and sell your rocks. Once you've done that you can eat lunch." Nyla nodded and shuffled to her room, putting the rocks carefully into a small box. She fingered through them before settling the book on top. She left her room, picked up the flower, and exited the house. Nyla headed straight for the florist's shop, put the rocks down outside but where she could keep an eye on them, and entered. She walked up to the counter and put the flower pot up on it. "Hi. I'm sorry to bother you, but my momma didn't like me buying the flowers and told me to take them back and ask for a refund."

He sighed. "Look, I hate to have to tell you this, but we can't afford to give out refunds. Got bills to pay, y'know?"

Mason
"'It hardly matters'? Kaylee, you're one of the best friends I've ever had. It does, in fact, matter," And then, quieter, "You're really about to leave me after all these years just because you and your angst-ridden multi-millennium-old preteen mind don't think you matter? Really?"
