"'Course not." I have people to live for - a family to support. "But I've ridden with wounds before. I'm fine."

"Then don't say I didn't warn you," he muttered, spurring Pickaxe into a faster jog. His attraction to the pretty, albeit moody, girl had faded to the back of his mind, replaced with a strong desire to flee the town. Remain calm. You've never had a problem remaining calm before now. Don't lose sight of reason.

Once the papers and pictures where nothing but embers she shoved dirt over, smothering the fire, then walked back into town. She glanced at the moon. It was about midnight. Time to go. She entered the inn and went to her room, grabbing her sparse belongings. She then took the key to the owner and gave them a bit extra money with a slight grin. She walked to the back of the stables, where Red was getting Gunner ready and swiftly tacked Phantom. She slid some extra into Red’s hand then mounted Phantom and headed out with a tip of her hat through the back alleys, holding back both the black she was on and the blue roan she was leading.

Cinch barely had to lengthen his stride to keep up - he was almost a full hand taller than Pickaxe, and when it came ro even the slight possibility of a race, he just couldn't help himself. Khal was being uncharacteristically quiet, but he was following and keeping up, so Katie would take what luck she could get. Where can we go? Maybe....? No, of course not. Still wanted there. She stumbled a little bit in her plan, coming to a mental halt. When did it become 'we'?

She headed out of town the same way she’d seen Katie and Chess but as soon as she was out of town veered off the dusty road and headed off out on the prairie towards the north, whereas the road headed west. She let Phantom pick up an easy, ground covering lope that Gunner was able to keep up with.

"......If we stick left when this road splits, we might end up somewhere. Might." She pondered out loud, rolling her shoulders slowly to test their limits, and thankfully no major damage had been done, although it still hurt more than Katie would like to admit. Better drink up before this one, kid.

Chess nodded distractedly, glancing over her to look at an animal moving in the distance. Since they were so far away from it, he wasn't completely sure what it was, but his best guess was that it was a coyote.

She rode on in the lonely, barren country for several hours after it had become dark then finally stopped and made camp in a small, secluded little canyon with a water source and overhang which would muffle the fire’s light. She brushed down the horses but left them saddled and made a fire in the large space under the overhang. It was a big enough space the horses joined her in it as it started to rain. She made herself a cup of coffee over the fire then roasted some venison she still had from yesterday.

She finished eating, finished her cup of coffee, then rinsed her tin cup with rainwater and tightened the saddle cinches back up. She threw her little stuff into her saddlebags then put em on the saddle on Phantom. She doused the fire, donned her cloak, then led the horses out of the overhang and swiftly mounted before her saddle got all wet. "Stupid rain. Miserable ridin weather. Although it does wipe out tracks.." she added thoughfully. She set out at a trot through the rainy hils, heading for the desert. Deserts where an awesome place to disappear from people.
