Chester
"Gotta leave this town... I want that horse, though. I gotta pick him up from her stable before I go," Chess muttered to himself, spurring Pickaxe into a slow trot as the pair trekked down the long, dusty road. Maybe you should check on Katie, a voice in his head suggested. Not a chance. Nope. And yet he couldn't help but subtly look for her as he steered his horse down various roads for no reason other than finding the girl.

Katie
".....So maybe turning my back wasn't the BEST move." Katie grudgingly admitted to the horse under her, who snorted indignantly and continued his energetic, jig-jogging trot. "We need to leave..... but we also need Khal. Dammit." She redirected Cinch, who was more than happy to steer himself as Katie pressed her good hand to her shoulder to try and stem the worst of the bleeding, (she had also fallen off Cinch onto her side, but she cared more about whether she was going to lose an arm to broken ribs at this point) and tucked her other arm to her chest to prevent it from being jostled around too much.

She moved smoothly into the shadows of one of the last buildings in town when she heard a horse, and swiftly located it. She recognized suddenly that it was Katie. She narrowed her eyes when she saw Kate pressing her hand on her shoulder. So she’d gotten hurt again. Probably why Kate had yelled after her. But that still didn’t make sense, as she wasn’t shooting at her.

Katie
Katie grit her teeth as she jolted her arm, choosing instead to just put up with the slightly pulsig pain in her arm rather than slowing Cinch's pace. She knew he couldn't help it - he wasnt one for walking, and his injury made it hard for him to keep pressure on his sore leg for longer amounts of time. She eyed the inn coming up, sliding from Cinch's back with a little pained yelp at the groundshock. She rounded the cotner of the stable, sighing in quiet relief as she saw Khal still in his stall, shoving his head over the door curiously.

She followed Cinch from the shadows and entered the stable behind Katie. “What happened now?” She questioned, leaning against Phantom’s stall and stroking the tall mare’s large black head.

Katie
"I got shot, that's what happened." Katie audibly grit her teeth, choosing instead to face towards the younger horse as she fumbled with his cinch, fingers sluggish and slick with blood, cursing quietly under her breath.

“Well at least lemme stitch it up afore you blow town” she offered. She continued stroking Phantom’s head as she waited for an answer.

Katie
Katie forced her arm to actually just move how she wanted it, dammit, and manages to tie the cinch, although forcing her arm to twist had definitely not stopped the blood flow. "You've done enough today."

“Fine” she said with a shrug. “You wanna die, go right ahead. I’ll try to help out your siblings or whatever they are once in a while when your six feet under.” She added, entering Phantom’s stall and starting to pick out her hooves.

Katie
"I've been just fine for a full seventeen years, I'm sure I can handle a day." Katie scoffed, stiffly swinging herself onto Cinch's back once she had tied Khal's reins to the dun's saddle and she had barely even sat down before Cinch was breaking into an eager trot, and Khal followed them easily, the trio leaving the stables and breezing past the inn onto the dusty road.

She grinned slightly at Katie’s reaction. “Don’t you just love it when you get people riled up?” She chuckled to Phantom as she finished doing her hooves. She entered Gunsmoke’s stall and did the same there. “Good, all ready. We’ll leave 2morrow” she muttered to the mares. She then limped out of the stable, where she again scanned the town. Red cane up to her “have em ready at the usual?” He whispered. “Yah please” she murmured back.

Chester
He pulled Pickaxe to a hasty stop, his eyes fixated on a girl on horseback - Katie, her horse, and the young bay that she'd ended up with. They were all the way at the other end of the road, but still close enough to Chester for him to recognize them. He spurred his mount back into action, the Criollo tossing his head as he broke into a gallop, only to huff in protest when his rider halted him yet again once they had reached the stable. Chester slid off of the stallion, quickly slipping into Gunsmoke's stall. The smoke-colored pinto jumped to the side, contemplating rearing up, but instead opting to only pop up his front end for a few seconds, probably because he was in an enclosed space.
"Shh, shh, calm down," Chess murmured, reaching out and placing his hand on the bridge of the colt's nose. Gunsmoke eyed him warily, but decided that calming down was a preferable alternative to causing a fuss in such a small enclosure. Chester grabbed the horse's reins and led him out of his stall, tying them to his horse's saddle horn. He then mounted Pickaxe, who had already started moving. Chess eased him into a trot, then a hurried canter. Gunsmoke followed diligently, wild-eyed but willing.
"I'm surprised you're not dead," Chester called from a short distance behind Katie, reining Pickaxe back into a jog. Gunsmoke tried to continue cantering, but Pickaxe's greater strength held the dusty pinto back.

Katie
Katie turned her head to glance over her shoulder, grinning against her better judgement at the recently banded together trio. "Ye of little faith." She scoffed, "Although unsurprisingly, you're not the first person to say that today."

Chester
"Wow? That's surprising," he responded sarcastically, coughing as Gunsmoke's relentless desire to speed up caused dust to fill the air.
 "Where you headed to?"

She calmly stood watching Chester run, grab the pinto, then take off after Kate. “Love” she mumbled, spitting out some horse hair. She went back into the Inn and entered her room, locking the door behind her. She opened the drawer, pulling out the papers and pictures in it and rolling them up before slipping them into her cloak pocket. It was late dusk by now, she’d take care of these then leave. She went back out of the room and exited the Inn, heading to the very outskirts of town swiftly.
