What is you preference - with double conversions

#237151 Posted on 2021-03-17 20:26:20

So I'm trying to get back into the game again. My main problem is that all of my Appaloosa's pedigrees are so advanced that all those times I was breeding them their breeding partners are figured out at birth or planned out in advance. Now with the new NSS updates and all, this basically means all my hard work goes to waste if I want to have profitable showing horses and what the breeders of the game are looking for (ex - sales of worth while horses).

At what point do you or would you consider doing a double conversion to meet the base stats again? I have a couple of horses that are no brainers that I am going to do it on like Devious Smile or even Whiskey River. Then I have some other horses that it wouldn't even benefit them at all in doing that. Like this horse Temptations Call. At that point when there's no point do you even breed those horses at all? I'm at such a loss. :(

Thanks in advance for anyone whom answers.

If you want to keep the higher nss ones, you can use the breeding calculator (not for specialty stats since it's changed) but to see how the nss will average out. Like you can check the difference between this foal's parents to get an idea. It's really kind of what you prefer.

You could just pair them with foundations if you want to keep the lines going and breed earlier to get the nss down without investing too much money/time into it. Depending on what discipline you do, you might be able to find some lower NSS non-foundations to outcross to.

But yeah, if you're really sentimental about them, they're able to breed, it will just take a while to get them to be viable for showing.

I double-convert stock I buy all the time. Foundation, lined but cubed, or otherwise treated/trained off-discipline, etc. If a horse has low enough NSS and you show them regularly (vs. part-time schooling), they're going to make up a lot of the "cost" of the 2 EVC required in their lifetime; and if they're older, you'll benefit in the next generation by the same standard, plus you can collect higher stud/brood.

One thing to remember: No matter what you do, you will NEVER reduce any stat to below what that horse's base stats are!

If your goal is to reduce nss stats; your best bet is to only treat specific for that discipline and not cube.
