How Much

How Much

#216174 Posted on 2019-12-25 16:12:09

I was wondering how much people are willing to pay in EVD or EVC for character designs, headshots and/or full bodies. Almost all my artwork can be found on my DHRP (Digital Horse Roleplay) account on instagram, which you can find a link to on my Equiverse homepage so feel free to check that out before giving pricing suggestions!

I looked and your work is very nice, but until you get your feet wet I'd stick to lower pricing and go up as you improve and establish yourself and your art here. To start I would say headshots between 50k and 75k full bodies between 75k and 100k and customs chars for 150k or less. I would totally be interested in a comission!

I would definitely be interested! Depending on what kind of characters you do, such as unnaturals, add-ons (such as wings, horns, different tail, long mouths, jewelery, etc), etc... I would pay 150k+ for a full body custom.

150k is way too low, no matter if you're new or not. Maybe 500k+ for a headshot, then increase for partial or full-bodies. Less if it's a recolor, but it looks like this is completely custom work.

I feel the prices on your page are way too low and very unfair to you. I agree with Syrien that you should be charging 500k at the very least.
Also, your EVD-to-EVC conversions are a bit off. EVC is worth a lot more than what your conversions would value it at.
Your art is lovely and I wish you good luck! :)

Just be sure to credit your references, I see quite a few resembling stock photos (which is fine) but depending on their rules may need to be fully referenced on here either through links or on the image itself.

I think 200-300k or 3-5 credits would be a reasonable price to start with, it's one thing to charge prices but another to actually figure out what works with the economy. If you want more orders (and therefore more money), then go on the lower side. If you're not bothered by the amount of orders, then you could go on the higher side, but not a lot of people may be able to, or willing to, afford your prices, as a lot of people save their money to pay for extortionately priced credits these days.

Your work is beautiful but even being an affluent player, I would not be interested in paying $500k or more for just a headshot except maybe in special circumstances.

I agree with Maple, $200k to $300k would be reasonable. You can add more for addons or complexity of the design to make it worth your while.    :)

My suggestion was based on the fact that it looked like custom work. Obviously recolors would be worth much less.

I only do custom work and I usually link the reference when sending the commisions (I also write it down in the corner of the art or in the caption of my work if I post it on Instagram or another place) as my more experienced artist friends have told me to do so

I really appreciate all the suggestions, I really want to get my art out there more and I will stick to some lower prices that I think ppl would be willing to pay. I have increased them a bit tho and probably will do it again once my work gets more out there :)

Just remember that often you need a proper link to the account for referencing, not just their user, because that doesn't really mean anything on a different site to where you got it from.

Equiverse also has a link/on the image policy that you can read in the help section under the Art subheader.

I think your prices are reasonable for starting out. In terms of getting out there, having a commission/sales thread can be useful where people can place orders and keep track of their commissions/wait times, long as it's not spammed onto the forums (which can be a turn off).

You can always host art auctions. It's the easy way to go if you don't know how to price, plus it gauges how many people are interested in your art ^^
Your art is very lovely btw! Will be PMing you c:
