I've been away for a while...

#206013 Posted on 2019-07-14 07:45:42

So I returned back after three long years and already excited to get fully back into it!

I'm wanting to breed for goods stats, confo and color - I got, what I feel is a lovely little filly just this morning! CLICK TO SEE! but say I wanted to sell her.. What would a horse like this be going for now a days? Like I said.. it's been three years! Not even sure what people are looking for in their horses now!

Any advise you can offer would be greatly appreciated! ♥

Welcome back!

I'm no good at offers, but I do have some commentary on that filly of yours. She has a nice coat and very good confo, but the one thing you'll really have to look out for if you want the best shot at selling any horses these days is non-specialty stats. Unfortunately hers are a bit high, so she wouldn't go for as much as one whose NSS were lower. This is because only the two specialty stats are used in showing (I think NSS are actually factored into it now, I'm not entirely sure, but if so it is very minimal and still not something to strive for), so people would rather have a horse whose overall stats needed work but whose NSS were low vs. a horse who had high stats but high NSS beyond fixing.
I'm not too well-versed in this side of things, but I hope this helped a little. Personally I think she's great, and since I don't show, I'd be super interested in her if I didn't already have way too many Paints over on my spare. :)

Hi Raptor,

Thank you so much for your response. It’s most helpful! I think I might try cover all angles then! But ultimately, I have absolutely NO idea what I want to achieve it terms of, do I keep all of my foals - sell them? I never want to let go! 😂

Thanks again :)

Another thing to note is that the economy of horse sales is pretty dead thanks to lots of breeders going private and the clean lines mentality.* However, don't let that stop you! Often, breeders will look specifically for horses they want in their program so there is a chance your filly would be sold.

*Disclaimer: not shaming anyone's playing style, just stating facts. You do you!
