Skye suppressed a nervous laugh. Well. About that. "Maybe we should look at why they're angry - what happened, why it happened, who it happened to. What they're trying to accomplish." Not that I want you to uncover my little rebellion. "Things like that." Things like being part of a secret rebellion to overthrow the government, effectively turning us against each other. Oops.

"That woman murdered for no reason other than she hated them. They were poor people, with children. I don't see how that helps us figure out how to lower crime rates. And this is kind of unrelated, but I don't think there is ever a good reason to kill people."

"No, there isn't," Skye agreed between bites of pasta. "But is there anything beyond that? Maybe things thus far unrelated, but important? That's what I'm trying to get at. The gritty details."

Ash drank some more water. "Hm... I'm not actually sure about details. Maybe I can stop by the questioning block later and talk to my one friend before she heads out. She might know more about people's reasons. I mainly know about three main groups - the needy, who turn to crime out of necessity; the angry, who do it out of spite/rage; and the rebels, who do it.. to.. rebel?" He dug out a piece of broccoli and ate it. "I don't follow politics closely enough. I'll definitely have to talk to my friend. So, ummm... is the food okay? I totally forgot to add chicken to it."

When he mentioned rebels, Skye had to keep herself from shifting her glance to anywhere but him. I can answer one of those questions for you, but I won't. It won't end well for either of us. "It is a lot more than 'okay,'" Skye said, feeling comfortable enough despite the bit-too-close-for-comfort topic of discussion to slip into her usual, slightly teasing, attitude.

"Oh, good." Honestly, he was relieved. Forgetting the chicken had been bugging him since he remembered, though the food still tasted fine. What do we do after we're done eating? What do people do on dates? I should have thought of something. He was fine until he remembered this was a date, and then he felt a little nervous again.

Think of something to do what do people do think Ash you idiot you should have planned something come up with it before it's too late or you'll seem rude or something. "After we're done eating would you like to, ummm, dance?" What? Why that? I'm an idiot good job.

Skye blinked. What? Where did that come from? "Um, sure." Right. Sure.

Man. I was kind of hoping she'd say no. Why did I suggest that? This is what happens when I pressure myself - I mess up. "So, uh, do you have a favorite food?" Ash asked before taking another bite of linguine.

"Actually, I don't." Skye paused. "Um, what time is it?"

He glanced at the time, a surprised look flashing across his face. "Almost 11." It's later than I thought. 

Skye 
So then... ah. It would be just about time to get to what I want to show him. "Um... I've got something I want to show you, if that's okay? After we're done, of course."

Ashwin
"Yeah, that's fine." Now he was curious. He stuck the last bit of pasta on his plate into his mouth to keep himself from asking questions. He still had his garlic bread to eat. Normally he would probably have seconds, but he was a little too nervous (and, now, curious) for that.

Ah, good. I don't even know where dancing came from, and this thing is super cool. Well, I think so. Skye took a few more bites of her pasta, desperately wanting to fill the awkward silence but also wanting to keep the element of surprise. It was stressful.
