This suggestion has been marked as "Added To The Game". Thank you, UlyssesBlue, for the suggestion and to those of you who supported for making Equiverse better!

Currently if someone campaigns to be club president, once they've submitted their nomination there's no way for them to withdraw it. I think it would be useful if they could delete their campaign so that if they decided they no longer wanted to do it, or realised they couldn't be around, the club wouldn't accidentally elect themselves a president who can't or won't do anything. It would also be useful if a candidate makes an error in their campaign message and wants to correct it. Or maybe candidates could just have the ability to edit their campaign messages as well?

If someone does withdraw their campaign, I think everyone who voted for them should get their vote back, so they are able to vote for someone else if they want.

I'm neither a support/don't support only because I could see it leaving clubs also without presidents of the option to withdraw abused

I would support if it cost money to run (say $1000-$5000) to put your campaign in, and to withdraw you don't get it back I know it's a small amount but compared to the member fees (250$ to join I think it is) it seems fair.

Or possibly charging money to withdraw (again around $1000-5000) and that you can only use it once in a two or three month span.

Also adding in the option to edit your campaign would reduce the need to withdraw then re-add your name to the club running (have an edit history if possible) to fix typos or grammar.

For now I neither support/don't support - don't take it as a bad thing :)

No worries, rhine. :) Some good points raised.

I like the idea of having an edit history, as it prevents people from promising one thing, changing it after it gets them many votes, then claiming they never made that promise. Possibly an extreme example, but not impossible. The editing should ideally just be for fixing typos and improving on the campaign message.

Maybe one possible alternative to my suggestion is if the elected president is required to accept the presidency via a button or similar, and if they reject it or there's no response within, say, three days, then it gets offered instead to the person who got the second most amount of votes. That would avoid the issue of electing presidents which aren't around or don't really want to be president. Still carries the possibility of no president getting elected, but we technically already have that if no one campaigns.

Support: I'm a member in two clubs and would like the option, perhaps as a last resort, to campaign for another club if someone stepped up to campaign for one club and no one did in another, or if I change my mind and decide I just want to campaign for another club instead.

Perhaps there can be a notification to users who voted to let them know if their candidate dropped out of the running, similar to a breeding notification for stud owners.

Support. A couple times in clubs I'm a member of, someone has run just because there's no one else doing so, and they don't want the club to be leaderless, but they'd prefer it go to someone who actually wants to do it. If they get a lot of votes, it's hard for a new more-interested candidate to win.

Also, at least one month, the person with the most votes went inactive before the end of the month, and was nearly elected despite not playing. :/

This could *maybe* also be addressed by allowing players to change their votes, in case someone with a more appealing platform comes along later in the month. (Then someone no longer interested in running could ask people to vote for someone else.) But that opens itself up to potential avenues of abuse as well.
