Only The Strong Survive

Outlaw 
“The candle. It’s just a habit of mine.” She said with a shrug and a smile, but the smile was rather forced, and didn’t extend to her eyes. 

Auberon
"Yeah okay," Auberon mumbled after studying her for a minute. "I'm not convinced at all."

Outlaw 
“What Else should I say?” She sighed. 

Auberon
"The reason," Auberon replied, acting as if he had just formed a plan that would save the world.

Outlaw 
“I don’t wanna hurt you, or our bond” she mumbled miserably. 

Auberon
"How'd you do that?" Auberon questioned.

Outlaw 
“By telling you why” she replied, going and flopping back into her bed, but stealing a worried glance at Auberon as she did so. 

Auberon
"Well, I doubt you'd know if it would hurt me unless you tell me first," Auberon concluded.

Outlaw 
“Fine” she sighed then began. “I had a twin brother in the old days. We where close. Very close. After our parents where murdered by a good fir nothin sheriff, we was taken in by a group of Native Americans. Once we where old enough we took back the ranch our parents had had. I went into town one day, and the sheriff and his brothers figured they’d kill me there. We was about to shoot it out when I heard footsteps running up behind me. I spun, and fired before I could see the person, thinking it was another of em. It wasn’t. It.. it was my brother. He’d come running to help. And I killed him” here her voice was pain filled, and she paused a moment to regain herself. “Well, I shot all them good fer nothin brothers, sold the ranch and cattle, and lit out with my horses. The townsfolk all knew what had really happened, but the sheriff had had friends where it counted, and they put a bounty on me. Eventually I reckoned if they was gonna treat me like an outlaw I might as well make good of it and act like one.” Here she paused again to glance at the candle. “Now every year, the same day I murdered him, a light a candle to honour him by” she finished quietly. 

Auberon
Auberon listened to her quietly, waiting a couple minutes after she had ended. "How is that supposed to break our bond?"

Outlaw 
“Cause of my brother” she mumbled. 

Auberon
"Last I checked people could have more than one sibling," Auberon mumbled quietly.

Outlaw 
“I think I maybe can’t think straight. Maybe I for once actually have gone to long without sleep.” She grumbled. 

Auberon
Auberon studied Outlaw for a moment, then looked out at Ahanu and Charity, part if him getting a tad bit jealous, though he tried to hide it.

Outlaw 
“What can I help with brother? Cause you is jealous over somethin, I can see it on you” she mumbled, looking at Auberon from a upside down position.
