Spruce padded quickly across the wet ground, going at a light trot. Colt hurried to catch up, his golden pelt splashed with mud. The rain was relentless; it poured down on the two cats as they searched for non-drenched shelter. Birds flew overhead, darting to their nests. No ground prey was in sight, however. Thunder rumbled in the distance, but no lightning came. Just rain- harsh, cold, relentless rain.
Spruce suddenly crouched, Colt nearly running into her. She hissed at him to stay quiet and still as she stalked a soggy rabbit jumping across their path several feet ahead. It bolted when it saw her, but not fast enough. The tortoiseshell cat pounced, securing her catch.
"Dinner." she mumbled, dropping the rabbit in front of Colt. The two cats began eating in the open, the rain soaking them even more.
"Do you think we'll ever find anybody else?" Colt asked her, licking his mouth.
"I don't know." Spruce replied flatly. "Come on; hurry up and finish. I don't want to freeze to death." she commanded, standing up and flicking her tail.

Whip
Whip lay in the shadow of a building that was once teeming with humans, but now it was empty and lifeless. She licked the scar on her leg, deep in thought, wondering what a life without people would be like. Scraps were plentiful on the streets, but they would eventually run out. The city had prey, but Whip doubted there would be enough to go around. Perhaps the forest would be able to sustain her. She glanced out to the horizon. How far away was the forest? Suddenly, her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps, and she got the feeling she wasn't alone.

Karma

Karma walked through the empty streets, not really having any plan as to where she's going why does it have to be raining. The only thing on her mind was to find something to eat and a dry place to stay, since the humans where gone she's had to find her own food not that she has a problem with that. She sniffed the air, catching a scent other then the rain of something from a shop not far from her. She picked her pace up, seeing an open door of a butcher now that she was getting closer.

Ace

Ace was laying under a car, a bone in between his paws. He didn't really care if he got wet from the rain or not, he looked up as lighting flashed around him. Picking his bone up he moved out from the car, to find someplace else away from the thunder and lighting. He went down an alleyway, going to a place he had found before that seemed to keep the rain out.

Crow

The large tabby walked down the street confidently, despite the rain soaking his long coat. His stomach was full from a bird he had caught earlier, and he was ready to survey the town he called home. Crow had a strong sense of leadership, and believed someone had to keep things civil. His ears flicked around as he listened for sounds of life.

Kaya crouched under a soaked cardboard box, listening to the rain and occasionally shaking the raindrops off her fur. This kind of weather really didn't bother her. In fact, she enjoyed it. She stood up, stretching her tall frame and scanning the alley she took shelter in. Kaya walked away towards open ground to see birds flying in all directions as the rain came down harder. She was sure if one came down close enough she could snag it by the wing. Kaya sat down, completely still and ignored the rain. She watched every bird closely until one young bird dropped dangerously low. Kaya leaped into the air and grabbed it's wing, silencing it quickly. The slender cat stalked away with the bird in her mouth to find a better shelter when she saw a tabby walking around the town. She stopped and dropped her bird, burying it quickly just in cause this cat wanted an easy meal. Kaya sat down and noticed the tabby's flickering ears. He probably knows I'm here, so what's the point in hiding? She asked herself. Kaya sighed and walked out into the open. "Hello. I'm Kaya." She said, her voice wary.

Karma

Karma entered the shop, shaking so that she could get the water off her. She looked around, not much was left. Others had gotten here before her, she walked around sniffing as she went. She looked up smiling, it was small but it would do. She had spotted ham hanging from rope, she crouched down eyeing her prize. Licking her lips she jumped, closing her jaws around it and hung there. She pulled trying to get the rope to snap, it took some effort but it did and landed with a loud thump on the ground.

Ace

Ace turned out of the alleyway keeping his pace at a steady trot, he was in no rush to find his shelter. He had his ears perked listening for any kind of sounds, be it fresh food or another animal. He stopped at the sight of another dog, a greyhound by the looks. It didn't look like she would be a problem for him, he eyed her as he got closer not bothering to hide that he was there.

Whip
Whip watched as the dog approached. Through the rain, she could see a Doberman. His expression was relaxed and carefree, but that could have been because he thought he could easily take her down in a fight. Paranoia eating away at her, Whip prepared for a fight. But after taking another look at the stranger, she knew she wouldn't stand a chance against him. "Hello?" she stammered uncertainly, deciding to see if he was friendly or not.

both of my characters:

Spruce caught a glimpse of another she-cat up ahead. It had just taken out a bird; quite well in fact. Spruce listened as she said hi to another cat, a tom.
Oh, great. More cats. Colt will want to get involved, bless his naive little heart. He has no idea how mean others can be. He knows how scary they can be, but not how harsh. Not how brutal.
"Colt, come along." she said curtly, skirting the two strangers by padding behind some half-dead brush. I'm sure I could take on both of them, but I don't want to risk Colt. I have to protect him. For some reason, he trusts me, and I can't let him down.
Instead, Colt trotted toward the two cats. "Come on, Spruce. They could be allies." he called over his shoulder.
"Hello!" he said to the stocky tom and the lithe she-cat, as he came to a stop by them.
"What is wrong with you?" Spruce hissed, scrambling out of the bushes to stand by his side.

Kaya's head quickly looked over to see a little tom cat trotting her way, then stopped. She smiled and looked over to the other she-cat, who appeared to be the tom's guardian. "Hello," she said softly. "I'm Kaya. Who are you two?" While she introduced herself to the two she noticed they were well fed, but in a offer of friendship she glanced over to the place where she had buried the bird she had caught. "There's a bird buried over there, if you guys want it. I can find something else for me later." Kaya held a soft, welcoming tone as she could tell the other she-cat was wary of her and the tabby. She chuckled a bit, then returned her gaze to the two new comers. "Don't worry. I won't hurt you. You guys have nothing for me to take." Kaya glanced to the Maine Coon tom standing next to her. "I don't think he'll hurt you either. You guys have nothing to worry about." She said.

ooc apologies for weird formatting, posting from mobile and will clean it up later

Crow

The large Maine Coon turned around and sat down. "Hello, are you all new to town? I don't believe I've made your acquaintance. I'm Crow." The cat spoke eloquently, and calmly. He sensed the unease of the other animals, and hoped to diffuse the situation. He hated when people didn't get along.

Ace

Ace had planned to just pass her, but now that she had spoken he stopped again. He didn't let go the bone as he spoke, "hi" he looked at her noticing that she was uneasy. He didn't make a move to attack, he didn't even show any aggression toward.

Karma

Karma griped the ham in her jaws, before heading out in the rain again. She didn't want to eat it there, as she was walking she saw something through the ran. It looked to be four small dogs, no cats she slowed her pace as she got closer. She didn't really mind cats, she wondered why they where out in the rain but then again she was to.

Noire

She huddled in the woods on the outskirts of what appeared to be a small town, thankful for the little bit of shelter from the rain the branches provided. She debated her options. Chances are there would be other animals in a town like this, and Noire was a bit of a loner. She didn't feel like getting into a fight today, but the idea of digging in a dumpster for food was tempting, as her stomach rumbled lightly.

"I'm Spruce, like the tree. This is Colt." Spruce replied swiftly, holding her tail over Colt's mouth to stop him from talking. "We just ate, but thanks. You can keep your catch."
Then she turned to the fluffy tom. "No, I've lived here all my life. So has my... friend here. We just haven't met." she declared.

"You guys seem friendly enough." commented Colt, batting away Spruce's tail. "Wanna find shelter together?"
Spruce glared at him.
"Oh, come on, grumpy!" he chided, stepping in front of her and smiling at the strangers.

Crow

"I wouldn't want to intrude, but thanks for the offer. I also just ate recently, there's been a lot of small animals out and about fortunately." Crow stated, picking up on Spruce's body language.

"There's an old pet store up the block that I found a way into, there's plenty of beds if anyone is looking for shelter." He recommended before standing up, and starting on his way. He was certain there would be no trouble here, no reason to hang around.
