Are donations for rescues allowed?

#47411 Posted on 2016-06-16 12:02:02

Hello! I am the proud semi owner of B and L. Rescue. Laney and I were wondering today if it is possible, or even allowed, for there to be a donation forum. We would really like to inform more people about our rescue and encourage them to donate to our rescue to help fund our horses.

* So if you have any info or knowledge on this subject please post below! Thank you

We honestly don't need rescues. That's what the rescue center is for.

Kuk there are people who have set up rescues so that either the RC dosent get crowded with horses. Or for people who dont want there horses to go to the RC can just drop there horses off there so that they know who and where they are going to. Itis just smaller rescues so that the RC isnt stuffed with horses.

Yes. Plus the rescues that are run by players are for horses that people are willing to put time and money into. They bring the horses stats up and resell them or keep them. We are just trying to bring horses that aren't wanted more hope so that one day they will get a better home.

I've been playing on this game for years.

There's few things I've seen.

1. Be prepare for overcrowding. There's a lot of younger players who became attached to their horse but can't afford to keep it and doesn't want it to go to RC. They will beg and dump their horses at your place and you couldn't say no. In short time span, you probably will find that you took in more than you can afford. That's the most common mistake I've seen.

2. Most Player Owned RC (PORC) doesn't last for long time. Owners often found that they lost more money than gain. The horses usually doesn't get sold so owners cannot make enough profit out of PORC horses. Normally, most PORC will go bankrupt within few months.
-- Only successful PORC I've seen is owner funded. That owner already have a lot of money to start with and received a lot of interests. Plus, she has a main account where she bred/sell horses and put them in shows. Her RC is a side active. Nothing more. She usually doesn't take in a lot horses too.

3. Donation... it rarely happen. Therefore, most owners won't able to survive on donation alone and ends up spending their money.
-- PORC Supporters usually are younger and newer players who are attached to their horses. They supported PORC because that's where they dump their horses when they can't afford to keep them. They don't want to dump their horses at RC so they go to PORC. They barely can't afford to keep their horses. Therefore, they can't afford to donate.
-- Players with money. They usually share same thoughts as Kuk have (like me...). We just don't see the point of funding the PORC when we have RC available. PORC is not a good place to invest as well so we usually won't to donate.
-- Yes, there are FEW players with money who are willing to donate. However, it tend to be one time thing and PORC usually used up all money in short time.

4. Donation Thread... that's disaster waiting. Be prepare for players accusing you for begging, etc. Donation Thread usually ends up in war or locked. So, I won't waste my time if I were you.

Ok thank you. We have considered all these things and I myself have seen what can happen in no time. The second part to number two is what is happening with me and Laney. Since we each have a main account and this is our spare we each can put funds into this account.

Yeah I actually would rather not bother with those who feel the need to judge and display us as " beggars". It is incredibly rude. So thank you for all of this Information. We do have a limit of how many horses we will accept at one time from the rescue or from a needy player. We will try our best to manage this rescue and it will mainly be focused on gaining the horses stats and show results. Therefore the horse will be more likely to be sold, and if not than I'm sure one of us will find room for one more addition.

Even if one person decides to donate just once we are still thankful. It's not like we are asking them t donate hundreds or thousands of dollars, they may even donate care supplies or tack if they feel like it. We were never expecting someone to commit to donating monthly, we were just simply putting ourselves out there. If someone is ever feeling generous then they may donate to our small rescue.

There's other common problem about owner funded when there's two owners.
One of the owner tend to invest more while other didn't. Simply because one often are richer than other. Eventually, it led to arguments and disagreement on invest.
So if I were you, you and Laney better discuss on budget and make sure that both invest into the RC equally. One might said it is okay right now but eventually it always caused a problem.

Also, y'all might should set up standard system for drop off. 9 years old with less than 200 stats will not get sold even if they did great in shows. Stats difference between that horse and 9 yrs old store that are trained since birth are too big. It will help you to cut down the number of intake if you have system than accept any horses when you have space.

Good luck. Y'all will need it.

If you wanna run a rescue, go for it! Dont let others 'poo-poo' your idea, its only a game after all and you can do what you please :)

I agree with Hoofie, it's just a game so have fun and enjoy yourselves rescuing cute pixel ponehs. But do have a system so you and Laney don't get into disagreements. ;-)

Your last idea is great! We'll definitely look into that. Yeah money is going to be an issue, we knew that from the start. Laney has a significant amount of more money than me obviously... And we do discuss how much each will put in a day or whatever. We personally know each other in real life also and have been friends for years so if there is ever a time where we were to fight about finances, we have before, we always find a way to fix the issue. Very sorry if that was confusing.

I am not trying to judge anyone's personal opinion over this subject, I'm so,ply trying to stand up for the little PORC we have around here. There may not be many bug those we do have have good intentions. Now please realize that this is the first " official" day of the rescue being open... So it's kinda a mess. Wow so yeah, we are definently working out the financial bugs, space issues, income problems, and much more.

Thank you guys! Laney and I are very passionate about this game, even though it IS a game. We both are just really trying to make j wanted rc horses more appealing to the public and even better for new players. This way the new players will have better horses to start with and the rescues will not become overcrowded. We are also saving them from the players that clean out the rescue and then delete them. So I hope you guys can see what we are trying to do and are coming from.

I wouldn't suggest setting up a thread asking for donations, as that could be seen as begging which I believe is against Equiverse's rules. However maybe you could let people know you accept donations on your page? Wording it that way means you're not actually asking anyone, only letting them know you accept donations :)
And as Hoofie and Eleganza have said, if you want to set up a rescue, go ahead and have fun! It's only a game after all! :)
I shall send you a small donation to help you get started! :)

Thank you so much Hoofie and Lex! That means the world to us and our horses. :)

Yeah, we've decided not to post a thread. On our home page there is a donation section that implies that we accept any type of donation. Once again thank you so much for helping the horses!

If you don't have the money to run a rescue why would you do it? o - o Or just...y'know.....make money the normal ways.

Don't RC horses get deleted eventually anyway? They're just pixels, guys. They don't have feelings.
