Stats Inheritance

#38556 Posted on 2016-05-16 06:24:07

Okay so I bred these two horses and the foal's stats are confusing.

Dam: 28 + 47 + 161 + 143 + 26 = 405
Sire: 20 + 26 + 153 + 140 + 25 = 364

So their average is: 24 + 36.5 + 157 + 141.5 + 25.5 = 384.5

The Foal Got: 18 + 25 + 91 + 82 + 21 = 237

So he got the following percent of their average.
STR______SPD______AGI______INT______END______ALL
75.00%___68.49%___57.96%___57.95%___82.35%___61.64%

Why would the foal get such a low percent of the two highest stats? The stats I was breeding for, in fact, since they are in driving.

And I did not know there could be such a wide range of gain.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

The formula changed from V1 where it used to be parent total+ parent total divide by 4 approx = foal stats

Think now it's a mix of luck with percentages thrown in

I am doing a conformation experiment with straight stores (100 base stats) no training and got a 103 statted foal from them

So in all honesty now I think it's mostly random but at the same time a good mix

Wow! So each horse has a hidden value for luck?

I'm guessing not but it was my assumption LOL considering on V1 you could breed horses down to 0 stats

Now breeding two stores (100 base stats each) resulted in a 103 statted foal I have no idea - must be luck

this is the foal I got today

All I'm doing is for estimating conformation nothing else so I'm trying to keep them all store horses with store base stats and points

from your horses the approx division of total stats is parent + parent divide by 3.24 which equals the foals resulting total stats but not how they were divided up. When I'm on PC I will try to do the rest

But generally to guess take

Parent + Parent / foals

All the way down the line - then track it over the total foalings you have planned to get a rough average for the formula on here

How are you figuring the conformation inheritance? I just did the average of the parents and got pretty close. But the foal still ended up with worse conformation than either parent.

I haven't gotten a formula yet. My first foal was born today (out of probably 20)

I would be interested to know if anyone else has been keeping track of their foal's stat inheritance! I didn't realize it changed from EV1 :/

I can start recording data. I would point out that stats need to be collected the day that the two horses were bred, rather than the day the foal is born (as the foals get their parents stats on the day of the breeding). So this might account for some of the discrepancies you're seeing.

Also it seems to me that, for the most part, foals are getting more of their parents stats than on EV1.

I have only bred once and used a gestation rush the same day, and I took screen shots of the parents before I bred, so all the info is accounted for.

The fact that the foal got the lowest gain in the two stats that the parents specialize in bothers me.

I've treated my horses 2, maybe 3 times since being born so they'll have a FEW extra stats, but not many, probably 3-6 extra. I stopped treating the parents (except one that snuck in on me once or twice lol) the day after I bred them.

519 x 582 = 319
552 x 572 = 329
527 x 587 = 324
586 x 544 = 327
564 x 540 = 321
560 x 554 = 323
570 x 551 = 328
570 x 576 = 330
552 x 564 = 322
549 x 571 = 323

Use that info if you want. It looks like parent + parent / 3.5 will get you near what your foal will be born with. The breeding formula is probably way more complicated than that, but if you're just hoping for an estimate of what you'll get, that might get you on the right track.
