LOOKING FOR PAINT BREEDERS!

#33827 Posted on 2016-04-25 10:02:04

Hello friends! I'm currently running for Paint Horse Club president, and I'd love to get to know some of the Paint Horse breeders on site! I'd love some input from everyone on the breed, standards, and some contests that you may want to do should I win the presidency.

Plus, I'd love to get to know you guys!

Here's a little form if you'd like to fill it out :)

How long have you been breeding paints?

What's your favorite horse within your stock?
provide a link or a picture -either or!

What do you breed for?
- color? conformation? stats?

What do you consider a great Paint Horse?
- color? conformation? stats?

What do you want out of the Paint Horse Club & Registry?
- what would get you involved?

Small time Paint breeder here.

How long have you been breeding paints?
On and off for a couple of year but purchased my current endurance herd about 6 months ago. I dabble in westerns.

What's your favorite horse within your stock?
Hombred foal Rocky Dreams. I feel he's a good representation of colour, varied genotype and stats in a Paint Horse, along with not too shabby conformation.

What do you breed for?
Stats, sometimes for colour as I prefer black/chestnut bases/dilutions, or conformation.

What do you consider a great Paint Horse?
Well statted, clean and short/uncommon pedigree, not overbred and easy to look at, so not just a colour stud bomb.

What do you want out of the Paint Horse Club & Registry?
Honestly I don't tend to get involved that much but in terms of other players I feel like contests would work well, picking out best horses etc for a prize. Personally I feel that it should be high standard, strict on stats relating to pedigree and age, because I like the idea of my horses getting into clubs because they're good, not because they're the desired breed.

How long have you been breeding paints?
Since I started in November 2015. c:

What's your favorite horse within your stock?
I have a couple, since I have different specialties for my Paints.
I've had Delaware since he was just a foal, and while not bred by me, I'm proud of owning such a high statted horse, and still so young!

Also in my lines is Remarkable, who's color is lovely and is expecting her first foal. :D I bred her a bit earlier than I would normally do, but I'm aiming to sell a few of her foals.

My last one is from my racing line, foundations created by me (and a few other lovely people on the former version) that were the start of my Racing Paint lines. Silvester is the highest statted amongst them all, and I just can't wait the few more weeks til they'll get to start my second generation!

What do you breed for?
Stats, then color. Confirmation is kinda an after effect. Though most foundation lines I breed are for confo in the first generation, then back to stats/color from then on, just to give them a little boost at the start.

What do you consider a great Paint Horse?
Stats, though I've been swayed by a few pretty colors here and there. If I'm buying a horse I pay close attention to pedigree, as I'm trying to keep mine full and clean, so I normally buy short pedigrees with no broken lines.

What do you want out of the Paint Horse Club & Registry?
I just seek a strict system for breeding/acceptance. Not unreachable, but hard. I treat/show/train my horses every day, and they don't always fall into my idea of what should be accepted. Contests and such can be fine, but I'm not a huge fan of having to raise new store horses and things like that. I would mainly like a place where I'd get to find other breeders, get new stock from respectable ones, and have a place I could sell my own lines in.

How long have you been breeding paints?
For about 3 yrs now. most people would remember me as Dreamfinder and my Dreamfinder Paints. Now, I just have a small herd to work with which includes custom store foundations as well as some of my older lines.

What's your favorite horse within your stock?
provide a link or a picture -either or!
This boy was born yesterday. Im still kinda high on him... 542 stats
W$ THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

What do you breed for?
- color? conformation? stats?
1. stats, 2 colour, 3 confo.. ( like solid paints with bald faces and white stockings. Also fond of ff and RnRn paints)

What do you consider a great Paint Horse?
- color? conformation? stats?
a nice combination of all 3. Great stats, clean lines, I prefer confo >75... and colour is just a bonus

What do you want out of the Paint Horse Club & Registry?
- what would get you involved?
Strict registration guidelines that will encourage breeders to focus on breeding overall high quality paints. Stat guidelines, minimum confo etc

How long have you been breeding paints?
I've been breeding Paints since I first started the game in '08, I believe it was.

What's your favorite horse within your stock?
My favorite Paint within my stock has to be Playn Kalifornia. Even though he's a solid and he's not too hot on confo, he's out of my all-time favorite mare I've had, Kalifornia Girls.

What do you breed for?
I breed for stats, however, now that confo plays a part in it, I'm changing up my program a little bit and have added some excellently lined Paints. Hopefully will have a pretty strong background.

What do you consider a great Paint Horse?
Color, in my book, is one of the least things I'm worried about when finding a GOOD Paint. I would love to see stats and confo over color, though, it is decently important.

What do you want out of the Paint Horse Club & Registry?
Registration guidelines. Though, it's hard to really regulate much, I'd like to see a lot more Paints with SOLID lines - no unbroken lines, especially, not in the studbook.

You cannot go wrong with foundation stock, quite honestly. Confo, color, and stats will come. I'd rather have foundation than broken lines. :)

How long have you been breeding paints?

November, 2014

What's your favorite horse within your stock?

This guy here --> Promiseland He was my first foal born with over 500 stats, and he's by far the highest stats I've ever gotten on a horse. However, this guy --> Dun Gone Country is also a favorite of mine. He is a second generation, and his parents were both store horses owned by me!

What do you breed for?

Stats, color, and now I'm going to be taking conformation more into consideration. I try to never breed a foal under 400 stats, and I'm trying to bring more and more silver into my lines. I try to breed for solid western horses with my main line. Along with Nittrous, I also have a line of Racing Paints that are going to be reaching breeding age soon.

What do you consider a great Paint Horse?

I like to see a well-statted horse with uncommon colors and decent conformation. I'm not a fan of inbreeding, though I'm not terribly picky about broken lines right now.

What do you want out of the Paint Horse Club & Registry?

I'd like to see decent registration guidelines. I think they should be fair, but not impossible. I don't think horses should be excluded because of broken lines. Many people have great horses and simply can't help the gaps in their lines right now. I think foundation horses should have different guidelines than lined horses, in regards to stats and whatnot. I'd like to see more club shows (especially higher grades!) and fun contests. Scavenger hunts, quizzes, etc.

foundation stock is the best...clean fresh lines to work with..brings new blood into the Paint horses on ev..Feels good to start off fresh sometimes. I add foundations regularily to build diverisity and clean up lines
