Change Height as Horses Age

#263223 Posted on 2022-12-07 15:01:14

Something silly and random I noticed today when getting back into the horse side of the game was that my freshly born Clydesdales are extremely tall lol. For example, this one is 17.2 hands. I thought it would be neat to see them grow as they age rather than have a newborn be 17 hands. Not game changing by any means but would definitely make more sense.

ETA it doesnt have to be anything crazy either. I wouldn't care if they were one height at birth and had one change at 3 years.

I think it could be nice to have increments between 3 and 7 years old, growth is breed dependent but I think 4 stages could be sufficient. It might be less noticeable on smaller breeds though.

I like those increments. I definitely never noticed it in small breeds as I don't normally breed them, but for the first time I looked at my Clyde foals' heights and was like whoa...lol. Nothing fancy or crazy just would add a bit more realism!

just to make sure, is this about the little height indicator on the horse page? or about the size of the artwork changing over time, like how grade horse artwork is sized according to the horse's height?
i'm for it either way :p but if its the former i'd also love to see a projected height alongside the current one. there's even more clubs asking for certain height requirements nowadays so i wouldn't want to wait until a horse stops growing to send in their application. c:

oh wow i didn’t know we were going for height now! kinda another cool little objective. anywho, it’s the actual height of the horse. i do think projected height would be cool too, since may people find the string test irl accurate. it would be nice to see the size of art work change as well as they grow, but that’s for another suggestion i suppose (:

ooo i see, thanks for the clarification!

it's just more of a focus now with grade horses, so the clubs for respective crosses want breed appropriate height like pony grades being short enough and things like that.

that makes sense, i am only just getting back into the horses and haven't dabbled with grade horses yet so i see now! i like that, that's a smart way to have some regulation c:

I really like this, bc rn it just displays the age they will be as an adult instead of their current height. Maybe under the 17.1hh, it'll say 'Current/Foal Height:', but idk. I'm not sure how gam design works as I suck with stuff like that lol
