Interest check: Stock Horse Association

#221797 Posted on 2020-04-27 11:38:38

Would there be any interest in a Stock Horse Association? My brief thoughts are as follows:

- Open to Appaloosas, Paint Horses, Quarter Horses (could vote later on additional breeds like Arabian, Morgan, Mustang)
- Trained in western
- NSS less than 60 (to promote performance breeding)
- Some kind of stat/point/level requirement prior to registration
- No conformation limit until a clear purpose for conformation is added

I'm not keen on creating a club just to create it, so I just want to test the waters before moving forward. I'd hope to host regular training contests (with a club buy back of horses if you don't want to keep them once closed), some free foundation stock events for club members, etc. I'm prone to random, unpredictable hiatuses, so I'd also hope to get an admin on board early.

Feel free to post feedback/ideas here.

Thanks!
Sonoma

I think that a club like this would be awesome to have! I have lots of Western QH's that would really benefit from this club! Also, I would be interested in helping with the admin for this club as well! :)

I'd be interested in it if the western Morgans'd be allowed - otherwise I wouldn't have horses to contribute XD
I feel that interbreed western club would be a good idea, from what I see ATM there are no active western-focused clubs that'd allow registration of more than one breed.

I also only have Morgans trained in Western and once some of my retired horses pass away I'm looking to expand my Western Morgans quite a lot. By sheer coincidence I'm going to start a line of Western Arabians also when I get space.

I would be very interested in joining the club should those breeds be open to entry eventually :)

I would be interested, I have QHs that I could register, plus if they were allowed, TWHs, Arabians and the odd Morgan

You know I'd be interested. :) I've been debating starting western Morgans and Appies too...

I'd put in my bid for admin but I am also prone to the random hiatus syndrome, haha. However, I could offer graphics for the club, if you're interested?

I  feel a western based club would definitely benefit EV. I'm not about calling it a stock horse club though as then it might seem that it is only for stock breeds. People may not be as inclined to check it out if they think it is only for stock horses.
