Johnny
Johnny pulled himself back up and tucked the handkerchief away. "I'm fine. Sorry for not doing more, I'll do double jobs tomorrow. Sorry."

Kitty
Kitty watched with a mixture of sadness and rage written all over her face as the barn slowly burned to the ground. Sad that the barn had burned, and enraged that someone had intentionally caused it, especially when they knew that horses were inside. Horses...yes, that reminded her; hers was missing. She walked up to the foreman, the look on her face seeming as though it had been carved out of stone and was destined to never change.
"My mare.." she started, glancing towards the pasture, "...is a bit of a jumper." she said slowly and somewhat ruefully.

Outlaw
"Why are you apologizing? There wasn't nothing more to do, we couldn't have stopped it. You'll do a usual days work tomorrow, not double time." She said gently but firmly. "Now go wash up and get something to drink for you turn into a ghost with how pale you are." She added, turning and heading towards the girl who'd brought the warning and helped get the horses out. She wiped her right hand on her jeans in an attempt to clean the soot off it, then held it out for a handshake. "Thank ye kindly for the warning and help ma'am, it's much appreciated." She said with respect.

Walt
Walt noticed what Kitty had said and stepped forward. "I can help you look for her," he said. "If that's okay with you," he added to the foreman.

Kitty
She gently grasped her hand and shook it politely. "Just glad to be of service ma'am."

She turned to the man from the saloon and nodded. "I'd appreciate that," she said, glancing at the foreman to see her response.

Johnny
Johnny opened his mouth to protest, but decided against it. He looked around Outlaw at the two people. "I could help too, i-if you want."

Outlaw
She stepped back and untied the lasso from her belt, whistling for Phantom, who trotted willing over. "I'll go get her, but thanks Walt." She said, pulling herself onto her mare's back. "Ya'll might as well go wash up and get something to eat and drink while I grab her." She added to them, then glancing at Edelweiss who had come to stand nearby. "Can you go put coffee on and such, Edelweiss?" She asked as she unrolled her lasso. "For sure" Edelweiss replied, shooting Outlaw a look as she spotted her burnt hands, then turning to Walt and Kitty and flashing them a smile. "Why don't you go wash up outside the door while I put coffee on?" She said sweetly, smoothly guiding them towards the wash basin before disappearing inside to the kitchen while Outlaw loped out of the yard to go catch the mare.

Johnny
Johnny watched Outlaw go before slowly walking into the bunk house. He sat down on his bunk and stared at his feet not knowing what to do. He could wash up like Outlaw said to, but he'd already done that today and would feel wasteful if he did it again

Walt
Walt nodded in response and did as he was told. Cherry naturally gravitated after the young girl, who strangely resembled herself. "Mind if I tag along?" she asked.

Kitty
She jogged after the foreman, stopping as she caught up with her. "Is there any way I could come with you ma'am? She can be kinda flighty when she's loose--part of the reason she was sold to me. But she and I have a kind of connection, you know? I'd really feel better if you let me tag along."

Outlaw
She reined in Phantom and glanced at the girl. "Sure, swing up behind me." She replied, nudging Phantom next a large rock so the girl could actually mount the big horse. "Also please don't call me ma'am." She added.

Edelweiss
She held open the bunkhouse door for the lady with a smile and an "Of course! I just have to put coffee on and get out some cookies, but you're welcome to come with" She said cheerfully, walking down the bunkhouse aisle and through the door leading into the kitchen. "So are you and Walt related, or just travelling partners?" She asked the lady. "I'm Edelweiss by the way." She added with another smile as she glided around the kitchen putting a large pot of coffee on and getting out a tin of cookies.

Kitty
She deftly mounted the woman's horse, settling down behind her, nodding to show that she understood. "What should I call you?"

Outlaw
She hesitated a moment before answering, nudging Phantom back into a trot towards the small herd the girl's mare was in before replying. "Outlaw. Call me Outlaw" she replied quietly.

Johnny
Johnny got up and slipped into the kitchen, getting a good look around for the first time. He tried to watch what Edelweiss was doing over her should, but still a distance away so not to be creepy. He liked watching people work in the kitchen, especially back home when the ladies in his family would prepare meals. He had always wanted to learn how to cook, but he never had the time.

Kitty
Outlaw...she thought, turning the name over in her head. Interesting name for a foreman.
As they got closer, the mare scented them, and leaped away, cantering and bucking for a few lengths before stopping and snorting. She paced in circles as she saw Kitty. Signaling Outlaw to stop, she quietly slid off of the back of the massive horse and steadily walked towards the mare, keeping her eyes lowered. Goodness gracious, she's lost all her tack. She observed, noticing the broken saddle almost hidden in the longer grass a good distance away. The mare stopped pacing for a moment before pawing furiously at the ground and snorting, sending clods of dirt and grass flying out behind her. "Woah there, easy girl..." Kitty said in a low and steady voice. The mare's ears perked up at the sound of her voice, and she started to calm down. Kitty kept walking, making sure her pace was slow enough to not spook her further. When she came within about 100 yards of the mare, she gave two low whistles and turned her shoulder away from the horse, keeping her eyes down. She waited breathlessly, almost worried that the horse would make her look like a liar, or worse, just really stupid. She sighed with relief when she felt the soft breath of a horse on her palm. She gently reached back and scratched behind the mare's ears, the horse's skin quivering at her touch. She swiftly pulled the tattered remains of what had been a bridle off of the mare's face and reached back towards her withers where she pulled herself up onto the mare's back. She nudged the mare off in Outlaw's direction, just holding on to a clump of mane for balance.
