Em nodded, a little bit embarrassed (she didn't realize she'd been staring at the guy). "I think I've seen him before. I can't remember where, though. I probably just passed him on the street or something." She shrugged, looking at the other band members as they finished getting set up.

Mason
 "Ah." Several seconds later, the band started to play. From their instruments a dreary, melancholy sound was produced; some of the crowd started to dwindle away upon realizing that it was not a lively or upbeat tune. Mason, however, took hold of Em's hand and pulled her along with him - yet again - as he made his way to the front of the group. He stopped abruptly once they reached the very front, eyes bright and focused with interest as he watched the musicians, his gaze shifting from one to another every couple heartbeats. "Interesting...," he murmured, absentmindedly brushing his hair out of his face with his free hand.

Margot
She stifled a small squeak when Mason once again pulled her, this time through the small crowd to the front. The music was louder here, obviously, and she had to tilt her head up slightly to be able to see the band (the pains of being short). Em glanced down at her hand and bit her lip, unsure if she should say something about it or not. She looked up at Mason. He seemed to be pretty focused on the music, so she decided not to say anything. He looked really... happy, and Em smiled, returning her attention to the band playing up in the bandshell.

Mason
 The cellist used an interesting technique to play a string of rather complicated notes, and Mason turned to Em, a big, dorky grin on his face. "Wasn't that cool?," he asked, eyes still bright and probably rather unsettling. "I don't really have much experience with bowed instruments, but I think they're pretty neat."

Margot
Em giggled at his enthusiasm. "Yeah, they are." I didn't expect him to be like this. It's kind of... Nope. You can't do that it never ends well nobody sticks around don't even think it. 

Mason
 Now that he'd drawn his mind away from the music, he became aware of the fact that he was still holding her hand. "Sorry," he mumbled, gently letting go and returning his gaze to what was happening on the stage. "Got kinda distracted."

Margot
She shifted on her feet. "It's, uh, it's fine." There was a small pause, the band having finished the first song. The keyboard guy said something to a fellow band member, and because Em and Mason were pretty close to them, Em was able to hear his voice. She blinked. Oh. That's - that's why I recognized him.

Mason
 "Do you wanna stay or go check something else out?," Mason asked, glancing back down at Em and briefly meeting her gaze. "'Cause you might be able to drag me away from here if you try hard enough," he added jokingly.

Margot
She shrugged. "Unlike Tim, I actually like these things. So whatever works for me." 

Mason
 "Cool," he replied, not moving from where he was. After a few seconds, his eyes drifted back down to Em's, and he stared into them for a moment. "Your eyes are pretty," he commented after a few heartbeats; the statement was only meant in an objective way.

Margot
She almost choked, which didn't make sense, since she wasn't eating or drinking, but needless to say she was surprised. "Thanks," Em finally managed, a bit of a questioning tilt to her voice and a slight blush planting itself over her face.

 "Just an observation," he murmured, shrugging and turning back to the band.

Margot
She nodded wordlessly, not sure what to say so not saying anything. The comment had actually distracted her from a memory she didn't want to relive, so Em was thankful for that. She tried not to think too much about it and looked up at the band. Now that she had recalled how she knew the keyboardist, she barely looked at him at all. 

Mason
 Mason's instincts and senses prodded at the back of his mind, though he didn't know why, so he shoved the nagging suggestions aside for several moments before they finally won. He risked another glance down at Em to find that she was trembling slightly. He blinked, a bit taken aback. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Em didn't respond right away, trying to decide what to say and whether or not she should even explain. The fact that she couldn't get the slight tremors under control finally swayed her decision. She sighed quietly. "I, um, figured out why I knew the keyboardist. I think it's - he looks like Liam. But it's okay I'm not really sure and if so I don't think he's recognized me so it's fine," Em added in a bit of a hurried breath.
