Yeah, share your story! I haven't ever fallen off in my years of riding. I've been bucked, but not bucked off. I was leading a horse once, though, and he reared up and knocked me over, so I guess that counts as a little 'fall' ;)

I don't keep count but the stupidest time definitely had to be when my instructor asked me to dismount after being on the lunge and I accidentally hooked my leg on the cantle, slipped under the horse, and ended up on my back looking up at her "wtf" face hahahaha

kind of the same as valkyrie, i dont really keep count and i also ride/train a lot of younger horse, mainly tb's but some others as well. we used to have on mare that refused jumps a lot just to be tricky and i was really unprepared so i flew off and slammed my ankle of the box of the jump, fracturing it :P

My dumbest fall: I had just gotten a new saddle pad and was heading to hop on my horse. He started to walk away right as I got my foot in the stirrup. Normally not a problem, just swing the leg over and stop him BUT the new pad turned out to be slick and the saddle rolled with my weight. I tried hanging on, but after a few moments I just gave up and let go. My dad watched the whole thing one his horse and was laughing.
Lesson to take from that, avoid synthetic fleece pads!

And this isn't technically a fall, but one time as I dismounted my shirt got caught to the saddle horn... My sister's then boyfriend was by the horse's head... Let's just say he knew what color bra I was wearing that day.

I got thrown off/fell off on tuesday during my lesson and injured my shoulder :(

It was my fault though, and my poor horse looked like he felt so bad for kicking out, but naturally I had been really stiff/anxious over the jump and usually I stay on when he kicks out afterwards but I was in my trainers saddle (which doesn't fit me)

Side note, but totally related to the subject of falls, did anyone watch the Burghley XC last night? Andrew Nicholson, Mark Todd, and Zara Tindall had some really odd falls. Andrew's mare slipped right across a jump, Toddy's old campaigner launched too high over a drop jump and buckled on landing, and Zara took a bath when her horse slipped over a brush in one of the water combinations.

I've had some of the most ridiculous falls ever.
-I was ground-mounting and wasn't balanced and the horse decided I was on enough to start moving and I flew over the side and he bolted and the other people in my lesson had to block the open gate so he wouldn't escape.
-I was riding bareback, bounced too far to one side, tried to emergency dismount, my leg got stuck on his hip, and I fell flat on my back
-I was riding w/o stirrups and I asked my horse for a canter-halt transition, but I wasn't ready for the bouncy trot and I fell on my feet
-I was riding my trainer's horse who decided to brake to a trot while cantering and I gave him a smack with the whip which angered him and he doesn't buck, but he kicks out and twists his back and I flew to the side and broke the rubber band on her safety stirrups
-I was jumping my pony (who doesn't like jumping because why pick up feet???) and he jumped to the side over the jump blocks and I flew to the side and hit my head pretty hard

After my second to last fall, I called my dad (who was in Kentucky) on the way home and I had the biggest grin on my face.

Oh, on my new pony when she spooked at a bag of chips XD

I should totally share all 13 of mine XD

I've I've fallen of a grand total of 4 times! The first time it happened there was a horse in a field which was right next to the arena I was having a lesson in. I was trotting past this horse on a pony called Tonto and suddenly, the horse spooked at something and Tonto bolted and bucked and stuff. It hurt.

Then there was that time when I was riding a new pony Maisie. She had a really bad temper and was prone to kicking and throwing people off. Bacicaly the worlds worst riding school pony. Every time I rode her she would bolt at least once. Anyways, she had a new saddle on and she was bolting. She went faster than she had ever gone and then she bucked like crazy and I fell off. As I was flying through the air she tried to kick me but luckily she missed. My instructor put me on another pony and she said Maisie had done the same thing to lots of other people and I think she's on loan to experienced riders who can handle her temper.

Sorry that went on a bit lol

Edit: I saw Zara Tindall's fall. Didn't see the others cos I was baking blueberry muffins :3

It's hilarious to see the horse's reaction when you fall of. Most of the time it's, "What the heck are you doing on the ground?!" The one that bolted on me was "Booyah! She's gone! Adíos!"

Like 8 or 9 times I think...the most recent was when I was running in the horses at the guest ranch I worked at and the horse I was riding got really excited and gave a huge buck. I wasn't prepared and fell right off. Luckily, I was on a grassy area and not rocks.

One time I dismounted from a horse and ripped my pants. That was embarrassing.

Hey Pegasus, have you gotten a chiropractor to look at Maisie? She may be sore, It would be worth getting her treated :)

I don't know, she isn't mine. That was quite a while ago. They've had a look at her and she seems to be fine but I think it would be a good idea.
