Topic is locked [ADDED] *new idea for stallions unable to breed

#120970 Posted on 2017-09-09 07:06:24

Well, I for one am a daily player. it has been forever that i cant find a stud to my mares. it is really making me consider stepping away from the game for a while. Its really not fair for a player like me who likes to breed to a lot of public studs. now i feel like im stuck. its really not fair when there are not very many studs that have what we are looking for up in the stud barn. now with this lock there are even less studs that I want to breed to! I am about ready to give up for a while and that makes me sad because I love this game

@ Rayah:
I agree it's not fair. However, I can't bring myself to support a "solution" when there are better solutions out there that had been shot down because it's "inconvenience" to some players (aka those players who doesn't log in daily).

Until then, have you tried to reach out fellow players for studs? I find that method more effective than search for studs. Messaging fellow breeders can help you guys to find common times to log in and create a network system. Hopefully, Abbey will fix the problem soon and you won't have to messaging players for too long.

EDIT:
I am willing to support 3 days grace period... However, 3 days is inconvenient for players who doesn't log in daily and they want 5 days or longer... hence the suggestion for 5 days.
I am willing to support breeding caps. However, they also inconvenient to some players despite the many reasonable revisions to the original suggestions. (that suggestion is my current favorite one)
I am willing to support "account lock" but those also are inconvenient for players who doesn't log in daily.
and more.
To be honest, I am quite tired of favoring toward players who doesn't log in daily over players who does..

@andromeda, I think we are all just trying to find a solution to this problem. I know many people wont lend out their studs if the player plays a different way than them. I also know of others that have a hard time getting online at the same time due to time zone differences (ulyssasblue brought this up). I  have studs up right now to help with this, but they are all on privet. I am not suggesting this so i can get any advantage over other players and I suggesting it because I cant find the studs I need for my mares.  Do you have a better solution? If so I would love to hear it and that way we can help the game progress :) thanks!

@ Churchill: I did mentioned suggestions that I like. I like breeding caps idea and I did suggested a revised version in that thread. I also made a suggestion on account locking but players felt that it is inconvenient despite the fact that it will not affect them as long as they log in regularly (the current system was installed to replace my suggestion on account locking).
At this point, I am quite tired of see players (who doesn't log in regularly) keep whining against reasonable suggestions just because it will be inconvenient for them.

Personally, I would love to return to old system without Progress Me feature and install an advanced locking system.

EDIT: Also, I did mentioned that I am willing to support this if it is 3-day grace period instead of 5.

I would also support this with a 3 day grace period!

This is seriously getting to the annoying point indeed this lock on horses whose owners have not progressed! Would love to see this implemented I''ve a mare to breed who'll be too old before I can breed her the way this is going

I've just returned after a 10 month absence so I've missed a lot of this new stuff being implemented but I did have the same problems as everyone finding outside studs as I live in a time-zone such is that when I'm on EV its like 5am EV time so there aren't many players Progressing their accts that early!

I agree with Andromeda - if players that don't regularly log in are the ones that are complaining then tough! This is the real world & sometimes you don't get what you want and just because you moan the loudest doesn't mean you should be placated by getting your own way. It sends the wrong message.

It should be this simple:

"These are the rules of the Equiverse game and if they don't suit you, either don't play or adapt"

I know of no other game that listens to its community so much let alone rewrite its rules/introduce so many new features(which is great for us) but equally I don't think this should be open to abuse by a handful of complaining players.

With any change on EV there will be "losers" such as the Recode Breed Cull - BUT we all adapted and moved on.

Remember you can't please all of the people all of the time. They will ALWAYS find something to moan about.

Mini Rant over

I know that this would mess with a lot of people's breeding schedule, but if you're really worried about a mare aging out, lock it until you can find a stud.

I don't support this because I can see too many people benefiting from it.

Surely all that needs to be changed is from "player hasn't progressed their account today" (i.e.: "player hasn't logged in since 04:00 am EVT") to "player hasn't logged in in the last 24 hours"?

I will say this again, I have no studs for public or privet use. I am complaining because it is limiting my game play not because I want to play the system. The point of the game is to be able to breed for fun. That's how I play. Please become informed before posting such negative condoning comments. Thank you.

I wasn't trying to be negative or condoning... ?

Isn't the problem that, because of the manual progress, studs are locked from breeding at 04:00 EVT until their player logs on. So players who log in in the hours before 04:00 EVT only have their account "active" for a for a short time, versus players who log in after 04:00 EVT will have their account "active" for longer for the day. So you can have players who are logging in every day but have their account effectively be inactive for most of it and their studs are only available for a short window of time.

I'm just suggesting that the timer for studs be based on 24 hours since last login rather than it being a specific time, so it is the same for all active players regardless of when they log in. I imagine it's also not too difficult a change to implement (whereas the other suggestions - which I have no real preference on) are more involved.

I think Almare has a good idea with a 24hr stud.  You log in within 24hrs of your last log in or your horse can't be bred to.

Now that I have agreed with that, I agree with Fabel and Marigold.  It's annoying to have a mare or stallion that you don't have a pair for, especially when they show that they're available yet are unable to be bred with.  The most simple solution to this entire thing without having to rewrite rules or create a new function on the site?

Lock your mares/stallions.  Message the owner of the stud/broodmare.  The game gives us the tools we need to set up a date and time for breeding, just talk to your fellow breeders.  I'm sorry if you can't log in every day, there are days I can't as well.  But I don't want Abbey to have to write lines of code (especially when I hope the code she's writing is for those pretty pretty foal arts) when the tools to fix the issue are ready for us.
