Cricket is Going Blind! (And a Question for Y'all)

#243725 Posted on 2021-07-19 13:40:13

Sooo... Cricket was really spooky and jumpy today, which isn't normal for her since she's pretty chill practically 24/7.  My mammaw suggested her eyesight was getting bad and that was making her more spooky.  So we checked out her eyes, and sure enough... they're fogging up, which means she is losing her eyesight.  She doesn't want me to come close to her face, but we'll try to work on it.

And I also have a question!  I'm wanting to go bitless, or at least get a bitless bridle to ride in every once in a while and I wanted to know what would you guys would suggest for that?  Any brands, specific kinds, etc?

I have a blind horse as well! Hopefully it goes gradually so she has an easier time adjusting to it!

I don't know a brand or anything but I used a side pull on Sparkles when I was still riding her. Worked very well!

I bought my bitless bridle off of this website.. I like their bridles because it's made from biothane instead of leather(so, cruelty free!) and it's very durable material. Plus you can pick from a bunch of colours and on some of them you can change from a sidepull to a cross-under.
Here is my old boy in his purple bitless bridle. He passed away a few years ago though, I miss him a lot!
