Disappearing genes?

#17826 Posted on 2016-03-11 09:07:04

Ok, I purchased a Clydesdale mare today. Her genome is like this:

EE AA gg crcr dd chch FF zz pp stysty rbrb oo spsp lplp patn1patn1 patn2patn2

Compare her to one of my other horses, who is like this:
Ee AA gg crcr dd chch FF zz pp stysty rbrb Sbsb oo spsp lplp patn1patn1 patn2patn2

Even though the first mare isn't carrying Sabino (Sb), shouldn't it still show in the genetic blueprint as sbsb?

Thank you!

With the current EV genotype set-up, unless the horse carries one or both alleles that give sabino or tobiano, these will not appear in the genotype.
If the horse has only one allele at the loci, you'll now see Sb+.

Ah! Ok, thank you! Didn't realize that had been changed. :)
