Credit Pricing

#11999 Posted on 2016-02-28 18:11:23

Just my 2¢
I know that a lot people who had purchased credits before the recode now have an abundance of them. Which is great - because it means that we can make pretty horses and get fun credit-bought items. But it also means we can sell said credits for money.

I've noticed people selling credits for 45 and even 40k each and I think it's a wrong move. Mind you. This is just my opinion and in no way would I ever tell anyone what they can or can't do with their money/etc. - BUT. I think it's a bad idea to low ball the price of credits. I understand that people do it to undercut others to try to make sales - but - in the long run - it's only going to hurt the credit market.

Eventually the cost of credits will lower - people will expect them for 45k instead of 50k.. and then when the 'new normal' is 45k, people will undercut to 35k to make sales. It's a downward spiral.

It's better to just price at 50k and above and wait patiently. It may take longer to sell the credits - but in the long run it's better.

Again. This is just my 2¢ - I'm not telling anyone they have to do anything.

Hey Ruki, I wouldn't go so far as to say it'll lower the value of credits permanently because people will start to expect it. I think, like any market, the credit market will fluctuate. At some point, credits may be in greater demand after the initial credit spending on custom horses/new items, etc. Then the demand will again increase.

Sort of like peppermints; I'm an avid peppermint hoarder, and I've seen the peppermint prices fluctuate constantly from high to low prices. Depends on the demand and supply at the time.

So I personally wouldn't be too worried over this. Also, this too is only my humble opinion :3

I've seen it happen in other games - but - EV is definitely not like other games. So I'll have to take your word on it since you've been around a long time.

Nice sig btw :)

I've never played other SIM games, so my experience is only limited to EV.
It's just my best guess, based on supply and demand, and how it generally works in-game and off-game. Just a hunch, and I could be wrong... where's my crystal ball to predict the future when I need it hah ;)

And thanks re the signature!

I think the EVC demand isn't as high. Like you said we got "match your EVC purchase" bonus when we went to the new EV version. I always have credits available to me which is a luxury many don't have in the game. So because the demand isnt as high and because i felt like be generous i lowered the price on my credits. I am not in a rush to sell them, nor do i need to sell them, when i run out i will buy more. My thought in lowering the price for them was giving a small break to some of the players who may not be able to afford 50k per EVC.

When everyone runs through and the demand goes back up i will probably sell for "normal" value.

The problem here though is that there is way more supply than demand for credits right now. I have no idea what the old price for credits were on the old evs, but if it's true that there was a credit sale thing then that really explains why there's so much supply. I currently play 10 different sim games; the credit markets on those games vary wildly, from ridiculously outrageous to not even worth it - but only 3 of the games I currently play fall into ridiculously outrageous/not even worth it. The other 7 have what I like to call a stable economy. Since this new version has only been open for two weeks, I'd give it another month - two months to see what credits should be reasonably priced at.

@Endless - They were typically 50k in the old version. No change in this version.

With what you're saying, wouldn't it swing the same way for overpricing them at above 50k?

Currently, I feel like the credit market is fine. I personally only buy them when they are discounted and that is simply because I only use them for upgrading my account.

I think the main concern should be if they were being undervalued in the art/horse market. For example, if tags were priced at 50k or 2 EVC that would be more alarming than selling them for 45k.

Right now the market is fairly stable they seem to fluctuate between 45k-55k with the occasional 40k price. Which is quite honestly the norm. On the old EV most players gave bulk discounts for EVC, and now we are just seeing the same prices but on a smaller scale.

"The average price per EVC at the moment is $49,582."

Its not going to change for now. Eventually things will probably change, everything always changes ;)

But to each their own.

I dont really see a problem in selling credits for lower. But hey, I would never sell a credit below 50k myself ^^
People can choose what they want to sell credits at, but i dont think it will affect the credit market that greatly. i dont think EV has a large enough community for the economy to be effected so largely and so drastically by people pricing credits at a lower rate. I also believe most people here have already been made aware of potential economy crises of the evc market, so to me, I see no problem at the moment ^^
