Qh Club Poll

#109733 Posted on 2017-06-18 09:30:13

I am conducting a poll to see which QH club members would like to see Quarter Horses worth something again!

Here's the Question: Would you as a Quarter Horse Club Member like to see stricter registration requirements for any new horses looking to join our club?

Please answer with Yes/No then give a short explanation to your answer.  Your help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, for the sake of the breed. ...

no because the one Quarter horse that I currently own is foundation and currently has not got enough stats to be accepted into the club yet. (This horse is still only 0 by the way )

I think for foundations keep it as it is but maybe raise the bar a little for pedigree horses / 2nd Gen +

No, I think they are good as they are. People aren't always breeding for stats and conformation so they shouldn't be penalized if that isn't their breeding priority. There is already a gap in the foundie to second gen registration requirements.

Horses that meet the posted requirements should ALWAYS be accepted...

I think if any adjustments should be made, maybe geldings should at least meet the foundie  standards for registration within the club.

Sorry, can't adjust text size from my phone. No idea why it is so large. Oops

@Nevermore, all Quarter Horses are accepted under the current guidelines. Yes there was the mistake I made a few days ago but steps have been taken to prevent it from happening again and to make it right to those affected. I agree there is a gap in the current posted requirements and there is a small panel of QH club members beside myself working to fix those gaps and maybe make some improvements. That is the reason for this poll, to get input from other club members.

With all do respect, but what is the point of asking peoples opinions when you are going to belittle them when they share their opinions that are different from yours.

You said yes or no, please explain why. People don't have to always agree with each others thought process. And trying to better a club to benefit a limited few seems pretty lopsided to me.

Not everyone breeds for the same goals so why make it harder for players who have different breeding goals then just stats or conformation?

@Nyx, If I can across as belittling I am sorry. I was just trying to say why a few players horses were rejected the other day. I know I messed up and it really bothers me that I did. I guess I was more beating myself up for something that was a accident, for something I didn't mean to do. I do want to apologize to you, to Nevermore and anyone else I have offended. I like to think I have decent people skills but I'm thinking they need some refining. Again I am truly sorry.

Honestly I didn't see anything that was belittling in the slightest? And it wasn't edited so I know the wording wasn't changed. A little confused. Blue was clarifying a mistake she made previously and how she will be fixing it, and essentially agreeing with the poster above her.

As for my opinion, I don't think they really need to be changed. We want to include everyone in the club I would assume, and some people breed for colour, or for fun and perhaps don't have the time or energy to spend making their horses super awesome. They should be able to register anyways. On the other hand, tightening up requirements would ensure that QH's breed standards improve overall. It's too bad you can't have two types of registration, a basic and an elite horse classification. But that isn't possible at this point, so I don't know.

Plus then you have all the horses already registered that won't be held to the higher standard, so it gets complicated. I guess my opinion is "I don't know, maybe?" Haha

Personally I feel the requirements seem fair. Seeing as there is no real age group linked (for example 0 - 3 yr olds need so many stats or minimum this conformation, and so on and so forth), it's only split between foundations, "other" general average conformation and then the studs.

That being said, I am always one for improving breeds. Because of that, I am very strict on myself when I purchase or bred horses (looking at everything from age to conformation to color to pedigree, sometimes even checking how many siblings and cousins the horse has that I am interested in). But just because I am that way, doesn't mean anyone else is. As mentioned before, everyone has different breeding goals and some are just out to have fun in a game, therefor it would be unwise to make the requirements too strict. Especially for those wanting to start off afresh with new foundies or a new player starting out that cannot afford a top statted horse just yet.

I agree with Birchmallow, pity there can't be 2 registries. So that those that just want to enjoy the game can do so at their own pace and those that want to challenge themselves to breeding "best ever stud with highest stats or conformation" or whatever can do so lol =D

my secondary player has all foundation foals i custom apart from few were store bought, i think it is fair to give a fair chance to everyone and show off their best QH, no matter whether its stats,conformation,patterns/colors and so forth:)
