Custom Mustang Base [thunderhead]

#10802 Posted on 2016-02-26 23:41:13

So...safe to say this took a while (STILL TAKING A WHILE CAUSE ITS NOT DONE) but I wanted to show my little project I've been working on...I still love mustangs on EV but thought the art on them was a little inconsistent with the rest of the breeds, I DO LIKE IT but I wanted something softer and a little more basic looking for when I can give my horses custom images (level 30 seems so far away...)

I did a [censored] ton of research for this base since mustangs don't have one SET look, but I think I captured them relatively well?? I sorta like them without their mane covering their neck but I think I'll make a version where its covering as well, since that's more of a classic mustang look.

Anyway just thought I'd share my insanity with u guys

D: I wish the mustangs actually looked like this, I would have snapped up all the rc musangs in a heartbeat. As it is, I feel the current art doesn't match the rest of the breeds in a way I can't put my finger on.

Though I do have to say they look a little lacking in the mane department.

Thanks Champagne! That's a super compliment ;; I hate to say anything bad about the art because its actually all beautiful but like you said it just doesn't seem to match :>

And yeah I haven't decided what I want to do with the mane yet so that's still up in the air, have some other things to tweak as well.

I agree with the current art. It seems too much for a horse sitting in a stall, and the rest of the breeds are so quiet, the Mustang art is so WILD, but I hate to seem like I'm bashing on the art as it's all just so beautiful.

This Mustang art you have going is so beautiful, though. It's simply amazing and would also have loved for the Mustang are to look like this ♥

@wey- exactly, not bashing it at all, just envisioning some alternatives for my mustang herd since we have that option of changing the image now. I really liked that on other games so I'm stoked that we can do it here too :>! And thank you so much!

@kylo- It's really unfortunate, I heard a lot of people were no longer continuing mustangs but I want to keep 'em goin since I at least will get the chance to change the image later, I brought them over from the old EV so I'm still attached haha

And thank you as well!

these are so nice! I have a question for you: when you build your base, are you coloring the shading right on the base layer? if so, how are you recoloring the base for each one of the game colors? yours is so much better than my custom omg I might have to redo mine!!

@Cinch - ♥

@Elegant - Ok I usually [censored] up trying to explain this because it seems to be different from how everyone else does it BUT I'll try.
-Basically my grayscale is all on one layer, I just shade in black and white.
-When I'm done I duplicate that layer and make the flat color layers putting them in between the two copies of the grayscale.
-The top grayscale is set to a Soft Light layer mode and the bottom is normal.
-Then I take one of the flat color layers and set it to hard light
-I duplicate both bases again and merge them to that one color layer
-And then I have a flat base color that I can layer mask away for markings!

I repeat this for every base color so that they all have the shading merged in. If I need special colors like a champagne I usually overlay the other coat colors to get it and merge them together.

I hope that makes sense augh also I'd love to see what you've done as well!!

petition to make this the new breed art >_>

I'm kidding (only a little), but seriously these are gorgeous! I don't love the white patterns on the new mustang art at all and yours are drool worthy, holy. I'd fall back in love with my herd if they all looked like that *-*

:o Thunderhead that's somewhat similar to what I was originally doing when I started grey scaling, though with an extra step/more refined. I stopped because it was a pain and I could achieve similar results with another method but I'll have to try this.

Also, if you make these available for us to use I think I'll keep my stangs because this is fab owo

I decided to give up my Mustangs exactly for the art purpose. I didn't like how outgoing they look and how the markings look on them, so I switched out. But man I'd give the world to be able to have these as Mustang art ♥
