Item Location and Use Guide

This guide is meant as a reference for all items in the game, where they are located, what uses they have, and with the long-term goal of adding prices for every purchasable item eventually.
Feel free to correct anything that is wrong through here or DMs, but keep in mind that  I will hesitate to add info if I cannot confirm whether something is 100% true.

Item Origins

Some players may be unfamiliar with certain parts of EV, so here are some explanations for the different areas that items can be found in.

Item Listings, Trades and the Forums
These are all markets run by the players themselves and so prices will fluctuate often.
Item listings can be bought immediately with a small fee deducted from the seller's earnings after the sale. Many current listings are very old and overpriced, and so they may not indicate fair prices for items.
Trades require an offer to be made and the trade's creator to approve it. They last one week and require a deposit of $1000 EVD that is returned to the creator after an offer is accepted and the trade is closed. Allowing a trade to expire after a week will not return the $1000 deposit.
The forums are used to either advertise your items for sale or post an ISO (In Search Of) for an item you want. It's safer to use trades rather than transfers when negotiating with people through the forums. If someone promises to transfer you their half of the agreement, they may forget or be unable to. Or in rare cases they may deliberately refuse to pay once you've sent your money/items to them, essentially stealing from you. While the EV community is pretty close-knit and incidents like this are pretty rare, make sure to do what you find most comfortable.

The Credit Shop
This is where you find all the items that can purchased with credits. These items are always in stock and are not affected by in-game season or events. They are all tradable, and so you can buy them from other players if you don't want to spend credits for them.

Seasonal Events
Events automatically run annually and are the only source for certain items in the game. They come with their own unique currency that is only accessible during the event, afterwards any leftover currency still remains on your account but cannot be viewed or used again until the event returns. Sometimes event currency will need to be converted before it can be used.

Valentine's - February (Ruby Shards converted into Ruby Hearts)
Water Balloon Fight - July (Shimmering Raindrops)
Summer Stargazing - August (Stardust converted into Stars)
   Halloween - October (Pumpkin Seeds)
Fall Leaves - November (Pristine Leaves)
Snowball Fight - December (Crystallized Snowflakes)

Riding Schools
Sending your horses to a riding school always has a chance of rewarding you with treats, with the chance depending on which type of lesson you choose. Both group and private lessons are 5% per hour completed while trail riding lessons are 30% per hour.

Farmstead
The farmstead is a source for Carrots, Turnips, and all 3 kinds of Apples. It's divided into the farm which produces carrots/turnips, and the orchard which gives apples. Both function somewhat differently but still require daily care to maximize the amount of treats you produce at the harvest.

Leisure Rides
Every time you click through a leisure ride you have a chance to find various items depending on the location. Finding items here comes in two ways: either the item is given to you automatically, or you will be given a prompt and have a chance to earn the item by clicking the right option. Where applicable I have noted what option you have to pick to find a particular item, otherwise assume it's a random drop from just clicking the ride button.

Horses Dying Naturally
Whenever one of your horses lives a full life and dies at age 22, you will automatically receive a small gift of treats or decorations when they pass away.

The Fountain
Both the "wish for items" and "wish for the horses" options give items, but wishing for the horses has a chance of giving other things such as currency, 2 days of an auto-tool, or extra stats for a random horse.

Junk Yard
This is where all your discarded items go! To actually delete items from the game entirely, you have to trade it into the general store. Since anything can be discarded from your inventory, anything can be found in the junk yard. The chance of finding items besides 1/5 grade tack is pretty low however.

*Because so many items can be found in the Fountain and Junk Yard at an incredibly small chance, I won't be listing them as possible locations for items below.

Where to Find Each Item

Consumables
Treats come in 3 kinds: single stat, discipline specific, and multi-stat.

Single stat treats only raise one type of stat and are the most common. All single stat treats come in 2 types, single use and "packaged" general store versions. The only real difference between them is where they come from, and that single use treats can be converted into their general store version but not vice versa.
Discipline specific treats raise two stats and are currently very rare in game. The stats that are raised depend which discipline the treat is meant for.
Multi-stat treats raise any of the 5 stats randomly, they range from very common to rare.

Tack/Other
A couple notes:
General store tack is always in it's default color and the lowest grade. To obtain tack with a different color and/or a higher grade you must either dye/upgrade it yourself, buy it from other players, or find it in the Junk Yard.
Tack boxes contain a full set of grade 1/5 discipline tack: 1 bridle, 1 saddle, 1 set of splint boots, and 1 tail guard.
Tack can also be rarely found in the Mountain Path leisure ride through the "Take the Tack" prompt. It has a fairly high chance of failing and even when successful, the tack will be only 1/5 grade and very low durability.

Bridles - General Store for $200
Saddles - General Store for $300
Splint Boots - General Store for $150
Tail Guard - General Store for $150
Tack Box - General Store for $750
Cloth Dye - General Store 5x uses for $500
Leather Dye - General Store 5x uses for $100
Seed Packets - General Store 5x uses for $100 (Carrot, Turnip)
Tree Seeds - General Store for $500 (Green Apple, Red Apple, Yellow Apple)
Welcome Pack - given at the start of the game

Further Explanations
Some items may not have an obvious way of using them.

Tack is equipped to your horse from their page and can also be equipped through the Tack Room. It boosts your horse's stats by a set amount that increases with the grade of the tack up to grade 5.
To use dyes on tack you must go to the Tack Workshop and follow the instructions there to give your tack different colors.

Backgrounds and decorations are equipped to your horses through the inventory, they have no gameplay effects and are just there for fun.

Winter Treats don't specify which specialty they're meant for, they are as follows:
Winter Treat: Bell - 1-4 intelligence/endurance (Endurance stats)
Winter Treat: Snowflake - 1-4 agility/intelligence (Dressage stats)
Winter Treat: Star - 1-4 speed/intelligence (Western stats)
Winter Treat: Stocking - 1-4 speed/endurance (Racing stats)
Winter Treat: Tree - 1-4 strength/endurance (Driving stats)
Winter Treat: Wreath - 1-4 speed/agility (Show Jumping stats)

BreedAgain Solution: Reduces a mare's breeding cooldown to 0, meaning you can breed her again immediately.
Freeze Gray - Stops your horse from greying out any more, can only be used on a horse 2 years old or older.
Love Potion: Reduces a mare's breeding cooldown to 0, meaning you can breed her again immediately.
Gestation Rush - Back when foals were born after a week, this item could be used. Now that foals are born immediately it doesn't have any use, nor can it be obtained from the game.
Valentine's Rose: 100% chance of a mare having a filly on her next breeding.
Valentine's Thorn: 100% chance of a mare having a colt on her next breeding.
Witches Brew: 100% chance of a mare having twins on her next breeding. Additionally, there's a 70% chance one of the foals is born dead, 20% chance a foal is born with lower stats and confo, and 10% chance both foals are alive and healthy.
