Color/pattern confusion?

#96112 Posted on 2017-03-03 09:47:03

Hi all :)

I'm a little confused and am hoping someone can help clarify for me, the genetics are still confusing.

I recently bred my mare, Splish Splash, to a public stud. The result is :

How did two grey horses produce a Buckskin Tobiano? And, does GG mean her future foals are for sure going to gray?

Last question - is it possible to breed an all white Trakehner? I don't see any under the horse search, and am wondering if it's even possible.

Sorry for the silly questions :)

She should be grey, yes.. and down the road , when you breed her, she will pass on a G gene..because she's dominant GG

As for white trakehners...no, its not possible to breed them.
Hope this helps a bit! :)

Here's a link to the statistics page on trakehners..it shows all the allowed genes in the game...they do not have White

Thank you!

One more question - in the future, to (try and) avoid grey, I could breed her to a gg stallion?

Hello!
Your two Grey horses have genes under the grey that they passed on to make your foal. Grey Shows up over all of your horse's traits as they age, so your foal having GG genes will eventually turn grey like her father. But she's actually got her father's genes as he would be a buckskin tobanio if it wasn't for the grey! She'll start to show signs of graying I believe at 3 years old when her color will show up as "Buckskin (graying)" until she hits about 10 I believe when her color will change completely to Gray.

Windspun is right about the White, the closest you can get is a Gray Tobanio since on our game Trakes don't carry the W gene!

EDIT:
Breeding her to a gg stallion will give your foal a Gg gene so it will still be gray in the end, but if you continue breeding to gg horses with your horse's offspring eventually luck has to be on your side and you'll get a non-gray foal!
