Minghan

Tamia shot her head up and looked across to the fence, her human was there, what does he want now the mare thought. She picked up a trot and neared the fence, Gawonii got there first what is that stallion doing near my human!. Her ears went back and her tail up in outrage.

Minghan was glad to see Ada "hey, good friend" he smiled broadly but saw a flicker of chestnut rage heading their way so jumped over the fence and skipped around Gawonii to throw his hands up in Tamia's face as she lunged for the stallion. "Enough" he said loudly and firmly. The boisterous red mare threw her head back in disgust and snorted, but she didn't take a step back. So they stood there for a moment with locked eye contact until Ming stepped forward and pushed her back "don't be rude to our friends!" He tried to scold her but was laughing too much at her indignant expression, he turned back to Ada, "silly mare! Will pick a fight with anyone!" he paused watching his horse a moment longer. Finally he remembered why he'd come over here, "Ada I wanted to ask you to join the hunt this afternoon, will you come?"

Anemy
The girl ran up the horse pens excitedly, even though she had just put Lallo up, she should help but be excited to get back into the saddle. She caught sight of Ada and Ming along with the wild mare. She secretly couldn't help but thanks the spirits for giving her a tame horse she could connect to. She let out a high pitched whistle for her loyal steed.
The small stallion raised his head high, his eyes immediately looking toward the source. He swished his tail once, and began to trot over, enjoying the sounds of the feathers and bones in his mane move along with him. He nickered in greeting as he neared the fence, not minding the raging mare off to the side. His ears flicked back a bit as he heard a familiar pounding of hooves come up behind him. He couldn't help straighten up in alert, despite Emy's soothing stokes against his nose.

Maska
"We shall." He agreed, watching after his sister and Ming thoughtfully. "Meet you then, Ameria." Maska smiled at her warmly, and hurried to follow. He could already see his temperamental stallion running up behind Lallo, his son. There was no doubt in the man's mind that his horse was up to no good. A stallion was a stallion, no matter if they were blood related, they were competitive.
"Keme!" He called, and brought his fingers to his mouth to release a long whistle.
While Keme did have a harsh streak, he knew better than to betray his owner. Keme's dark, but decorative coat gleamed as he quickly changed his destination to a different part of the fence. He pet out a powerful snort from his circled nose, and kicked at the fence in his way as Maska approached.
"Relax." Maska whispered, resting a hand on the stallion's stripes of honor. "You should come, Ada. It will be fun." He encouraged, finally looking over at the group.

Adahy

Ada chuckled at both Ming and Maska. "Of course I'll go, guys. Have you ever known me to turn down an adventure?" he replied, smirking and heaving himself back onto Gawonii's back. He brushed a strand of dark hair out of his face and waited for the men to get ready to leave.

Anemy
Emy playfully glared at Maska with a tsking sound, "Obviously he wants to go, Maska. Goodness!" She scolded, and climbed up onto the fence separating her from her horse. As if trained to know what that means, Lallo shifted his body so she could leap from that angle. Emy gracefully leaped on her stallion, landing perfectly... except she had failed to do one thing, and that was face the correct direction. She grinned at her mistake, resting her hands against Lallo's hind as he casually made his way over to the gate to be let out.

Maska
Maska rolled his eyes at his sister's antics, and grabbed his saddle he had left on a post. He pulled Keme to face the right direction as he threw the blanket on along with his riding saddle he mainly used for hunting. "How is one supposed to take you serious, Emy?" He asked, but got no response in return.
He grabbed a hold of Keme's bridle, and moved to sit up the fence so he was at eye level with the tall stallion. "Easy..." He encouraged, guiding the bridle on his head slowly. Keme was never one to enjoy bridles, and didn't waste time bolting if he felt like it.

Ameria

She ran off to find a elder to over see the hunt, eventually she found Wisko, her uncle who agree to come with them, his horse was lame so they went to ask the chief if he could take Sorria. With the chief agreement Ameria grabbed her bow and arrow, it was beautifully decorated and one of her most prized possessions, she was getting to be quite a good archer now. She came across to the horse pens and saw all her friends with their horses, "did you guys all forget we're hunting... where's your bows?" Laughing she jumped the fence and shouted for Chavan, she met him half way because she knew he wouldn't want to get so close to the other horses. She carried with her a brightly coloured rope and a molded blanket. Chavan's dislike if conventional tack had forced her to invent her own. The rope controlled his head with pressure on poll and nose rather in the mouth and the blanket needed no girth because it was molded to fit his withers exactly. She did have a croup on around his tail which stopped the blanket sliding forwards. Once tacked up she vaulted on her small stallion and trotted towards the gate, "everyone nearly ready?"

Awinita
She turned in a slow circle, a grin on her face as she stood in the center of the camp. Tee-pees surrounded her. She spotted her own and headed straight at it, her crow-black silky hair bouncing. Awinita burst right in. She dipped her head respectfully to her father. "Chief Dad," she said, grinning at him, her brown eyes sparkling. "When are we going to have a gathering with the Shawnee? I'm dying to compete in some games." She plopped to the floor cross-legged, and noticed the scroll her father was studying. "Is that from them?" She jumped to her feet and bounced on her toes. "Oh, are we having a gathering soon? Please tell me that's what that's about!" She spun in a circle, excitement splashed on her tanned feature. Awinita bounced on her tip-toes twice.

Ahanu
Anu walked in silence. He looked to the forest and marvelled at it's beauty. Even from here he could see the green light on the forest floor where the sunlight filtered through the leaves lay. A squirrel scurried up a tree and jumped off one of it's branches and into another oak. The boy couldn't wait to enter his haven, the forest. He turned his head and cast a look back at the spatter of tee-pees. He wasn't going to be missed. Hopefully, Chief Sigo wouldn't be too mad at him for riding in the woods. He hurried to where his mare grazed. She lifted her head, sensing someone approaching. She turned, and, seeing him, trotted over. When she was in front of him, Anu through his arms around Amadahy's brown neck. "Hi, Ama. Did you miss me?" he whispered softly into her soft cheek. She nuzzled his neck and huffed at him. He smiled and gave her shoulder a pat when he stood back. Ahanu walked to her side to mount, but the mare turned to face him. He laughed his soft, quiet laugh that no human ever heard. "No, Ama. Stand still." His eyes danced. He again walked to her side, and this time Amadahy didn't turn. He hopped onto her brown back. "Let's go," he crooned softly, scratching in between her ears. He squeezed her sides softly with his legs, and she set off in a walk. "Run like the wind, Ama. Like the forest water you're named for." At the phrase run like the wind, the mare began to gallop. Anu grinned proudly, remembering the day he had finally taught her to run on word command. He lifted his arms from around her neck and threw them straight out from his sides. Closing his eyes, he let himself feel the wind ruffling his hair, the fluid flow of the beast under him. He peeked one eye open. Good, they were entering the woods. He put his arms back down and whispered a soft command to his mare. She slowed. The boy gazed around him happily. Guiding his horse now, he led her to a small creek. The water bubbled and gurgled softly, running over smooth stones. Sweet, light green grass grew in abundance here. Ama's favorite type of grass was here. He slid off his mount and sat in the middle of the luscious growth, watching the water slip by like a giggling child. Amadahy grazed a moment, then lay beside her owner and leaned against him like a dog. Anu laid his head on her and she on him.

The Chief

Once again a beam of sunlight hit his face and he frowned into it trying to see who had intruded again, as Awinita spoke he grinned "calm down child, yes this is a message from the Shawnee and if i had time to read it with out interruptions then maybe we could organise a meet." He may sound scolding but tones of laughter floated in his voice, he was amused by his daughters excitement and pleased at her competitive spirit. "So what games would you like to compete in daughter Awinita?"

Ameria

The young women felt the nerves and excitement of hunt tickle inside of her, hunting could be very dangerous if the animal turned on them and charged, she was glad her little sister Awinita was not coming on this hunt. They only had one elder, Wisko coming with them and the boys seemed excited and headstrong so they could make a silly mistake and they would have to ride hard to avoid danger. However she knew them all well and Maska would keep the younger ones in check hopefully. She turned on Chavan to look at them all "ready?"

Minghan

Having finally got Tamia tacked up with out her biting him or anyone else he took a leap and flung his leg over his mare, she settled to his weight on her back and stood ready for action. He carried a slingshot in his belt and two spears that he stuck into long pockets in his saddle blanket, they crossed over behind him and he lent back to rest on them in a cocky way, "I was ready before I was born!" he called out impatient to get going.

Awinita
She grinned at her father and plopped back to the floor. Resting her chin on her hand and her elbow on her knee, she thought a moment. "Hmm," she hummed aloud. "Let's see." She used her fingers to count them off. "Archery, to see who has the best aim; running, to see who is the fastest; swimming. Those are ones I would enter." She paused and bounced back to her feet, unable to sit still for long. Her sparkling eyes were distant as she imagined a large, happy, fun gathering. "We could also hold a hunting game for the men and boys, and maybe a few girls and women like Ameria, and eat the best catches. The women could each have some of the meat from the best catches and prepare food. We eat, and decide on a winner among the women." She bounced a little, a habit of hers. "Maybe a horse race. Do you think Ahanu would enter? I don't think he'll enter any of the other ones." She didn't wait for an answer. "Oh, and after all the games are done and food is eaten, we could sit around the bonfire and the elders and chiefs could share stories and tell tales. Even us children enjoy it." She looked at the teepee wall thoughtfully. "It'll be wonderful, don't you think, Father?" She sat again, hoping for a quick response and hopefully an affirmation. She would hurry outside and practice for the games she was interested in. Archery, she wouldn't win. But she enjoyed the feel of the curved wood in her hand and the whoosh of the arrow slicing the air. Running, she would make a fair attempt. She loved to run, and swimming she was extremely confident about. She often swam upstream in her favorite creek. She smiled to herself and knew that she would have to jump on Dohi and ride down to the creek.

Ahanu
He stirred from his almost-sleep. Amadahy still lay her large brown head on his legs. He lifted his head from her and stroked her soft brown fur affectionately. The stream still bubbled and gurgled. With a glance at the sky, he knew it had been barely ten minutes since he had first set out. He clucked softly to Ama, and she lifted her head. "You can still lay," he murmured in her ear. She twitched it toward his voice and it lightly hit his chin. He chuckled softly, then stood and stretched. He cast a glance around the clearing and gathered some stones from the bank of the small stream. He could cross it with just two steps. He began to build a water block. The water finally built up behind it and surged over. He built higher. He enjoyed seeing one side deep and the other shallow. He tumbled his block and let the water flow naturally. A flash of silver from a minnow caught his attention, and he pulled back from the water's edge. More flashes, more minnows. He watched their antics raptly.

The Chief

Smiling at his daughter, he wished she'd stay still for a moment, she had a habit of bouncing around and he hoped she'd grow out of it as the next year or two passed so that she could find the right husband. He leaned forwards in his chair, resting his elbows on his knees and listened to her competition ideas and nodded along "Yes Awinita, those would all be good ideas, maybe you could help organise something" he suggested. He knew she'd be proud to be involved and hoped it might teach her good organisation. Glancing back at the scroll from the Shawnee that he still hadnt managed to finish reading, "I will suggest a meet to the Shawnee but they often travel north in the next few months so it may not be possible." He didn't want to raise her hopes too much in case it wasn't possible but he was confident a meet could be organised.

Awinita
She smiled and nodded. "Yes, Father. If they are to travel north then we can wait until they move back down." She slowly came to her feet. "Is Ameria out hunting? Do you know where she went?" She preferred not to disturb and ruin the hunt, and face not just Ameria's wrath, but everyone's. They all needed the food. She waited patiently for the chief's answer.

The Chief

He nodded to his daughter "yes my child she has been preparing a hunt but i have not yet heard the horn so they must not have left yet, they will need to hurry up before the sun passes the third quarter." With a sigh he wondered if he should go and find Ameria to check she wasn't having trouble organising it but decided to leave it another few minutes. He picked up the scroll again and his curved piece of glass that made the letters bigger, "is there anything else Awinita?" he asked, he really wanted to get this letter read and write his reply today but with the interruptions he was struggling to get anywhere.

Citlali

Lali walked around the field not far from the horse pens. The wind blew her braided hair to the side, making the beads within it dance. She wasn't certain what exactly she was going to do today, maybe pick some berries, she absolutely didn't know. Lali stopped short when she heard steps behind her, Namid had been following her. She gave a loud chuckle at her horse, "What a sneaky little thing you are." She swatted playfully at Namid before patting her on the neck. "Go on and play, we can go for a ride later," she spoke softly. Namid tossed her head and turned in the other direction. Lali laughed at the goofy mare before turning and heading towards camp.

Guatemoc

Guatemoc surfaced himself from the tee-pee to be blinded by the bright sun. He shielded his eyes and looked around. Miakoda had gotten up earlier than him, but she was nowhere to be seen. "Probably down by the river," he muttered under his breath. Guatemoc let out a loud whistle, calling Tadita to him. He saw the mare appear with her not so young foal behind her. "Hey there girl, how are you today," he cooed to her. The mare shook her head at the baby talk Guatemoc was giving her, obviously not impressed by it. Guatemoc chuckled and climbed on the mare's back. "Come on, let's go for a little ride."

Miakoda

Koda sat down by the river splashing her feet around in it. She got up early to see the sunrise just behind it. She was infatuated by the beauty of nature. Koda twisted around, grabbing at a dandelion. She stared at it, inspecting it, the placed it in her hair. She jumped to her feet and raced back to camp. She picked more dandelions on the way, wanting to share them with the rest.

Ameria

Guatemoc had appeared with his horse Tadita suddenly, she called out to him as she stood at the gate of the horse pen on Chavan "hooow, Guatemoc" She hoped he would join their hunt, she needed a few more if they were going to take down worthwhile prey, at the moment it would just be a bird and rodent hunt.

Awinita
"That is all, Father." She rose and pecked him on the cheek, then hurried outside in a blur. She saw the gathering of horses where her older sister was arranging a hunt. Someday, she might go as well. But she knew her sister's glare and the snickers that would be suppressed if she rode up and asked to join. She sighed and whistled. Dohi trotted over, his blue roan body glistening. She was glad she had picked such a beautiful horse. She patted his neck and he lowered his face down to hers. "Well, Dohi, how 'bout a run?" He huffed and she laughed, her head tilting back and black hair rippling. "Then a jog will do. I know how lazy you get on these sunny blue-sky days. But no worries, my boy, we are going to swim!" The word 'swim' was familiar to the Spanish mustang, and he took a step back and eyed his girl warily. She laughed her bell-like laugh again. "You love a good swim, and you know it." She clambered up onto his back. "Let's go, Dohi, my peaceful lazy-boo!"

Ahanu
He heard racing through the woods, with short pauses, and glanced up. Miakoda. His eyes widened and he hoped she would wander on by him, oblivious to his being there. A flash in his peripheral vision caught his attention, and he turned back to the stream. A large minnow, much bigger than the rest, it's shiny underbelly and dark back blotched a couple places with scabbed white skin, slipped quickly under a rock. He grinned. Grandfather Minnow, he called that big one. It had lived here long, Anu knew. He admired the wise fish, and loved seeing it. "Ama," he whispered quietly, "stay still." She had started to stand so as to graze, but stopped to cast a loving eye at him. He motioned with his hand for her to be still, laying his hand out palm down and lowering it slightly. She gave a huff and settled back, snapping at the grass around her happily. He smiled at her and returned his attentions to the stream before him. He sat as still as possible on his knees, watching the darting of the little fish with interest. None were large enough to eat, besides Grandfather Minnow - who would only feed one person and not even fill up their belly - so Anu never tried to catch them.

Ameria

Opening the pen gate she guided Chavan out, the rest of her hunting party followed and they set off in direction of the sun at a gallop, but soon slowed as they reached the quieter countryside away from the camp. She signalled for quiet and let Wisko lead, he knew where the most recent antelope herd had been spotted and lead them all at a trot in that direction.

Minghan

He shut the horse pen gate and double checked it was tied properly, what a nightmare it would be if the Chief's horses escaped he thought. He followed at the back of the group to keep Tamia out of trouble but closely watched Wisko, he admired the elders sense for where animals might be. It came from years spent tracking and studying the wildlife around him and Minghan wanted to follow in his foot steps as the tribes best tracker.
