Min Bid and Notification

I set many of my old horse up for sale via private auction. One of my horses had a min bid of 40k yet two people bid below 40k. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Also do we still get notification when people bid on a horse? I didn't get notified when either bid was placed. I deleted both bids before writing this, the bids where on my horse Leo.

Minimum bid doesn't stop you bidding below I think, I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can't bid below 25% of the minimum bid? Something like that, I'm sure I read it somewhere.

And you do get notifications for bids.
