Thinking of getting into art...

#46733 Posted on 2016-06-13 08:41:41

As the title said, I'm thinking of getting into art. Does anyone recommend any websites/(free)apps to do it on? How do you do art? Do you have to be good at coding or anything? And last but not least, will it cost any money???

Fire Alpaca is great and free. The only thing you have to buy is a tablet, but it's not MANDATORY. You can get one whenever you want if you ever want one. A mouse will work just as well with fire alpaca.

Art can cost as little or as much as you want it to really. It just really really depends on what you do, want to do, and what you want to get.

Digital art, you can do for free, with, like I said, Fire Alpaca. There's also Gimp, btu Ive never used it. Im sure others can suggest more programs that are free. my favorite programs though are paid for.

GIMP is a good free program, like Buck mentioned. That's what I do for all of my coloring (character designs, tag recolors, etc). I use PaintToolSai for my lines. You can get a free trial of Sai for awhile, but after that you'd have to pay for it if you want to maintain full use of it.

Deviantart is a great website for finding out more about doing art. I like to go here and do a search for whatever you want to learn about. Want to learn the basics of drawing lines? Look up "Lineart Tutorial." Or "Digital Art Tutorial," things like that. There are a lot of great tutorials there that will show you what to do, step by step c:

if you are on a desktop, Id use GIMP. IF you are on anything not a desktop (Ipad, kindle, phone, etc) Id use sketchbook pro. I use them both and they work amazing for me!

GIMP is completely free, and you can use your mouse/use a drawing tablet if you have one. I use my mouse, so I only really use gimp for coloring, but it still works great!.

Sketchbook Pro is free for non desktop devices, though you can purchase add-ons where you get way more brushes/colors, and can have more layers, and multiple other cool things! You can use your finger to draw, though I use a stylus made for drawing on devices such as mine.
