I was just wondering will locking a pregnant mare make her lose the foal. I just bred a mare but am wanting to lock her and another horse so that I can do some proje t work with some other horses of the same breed.

Nope! Locking just "freezes" the horse, once they become unlocked again they're exactly the same as when you locked them ^-^
