What is desired in Paints?

#34844 Posted on 2016-04-28 12:30:57

Im maybe thinking of starting some paints just to get a feel for them and i was wondering... what do people breed for?

Just so if i really get serious with them i will have some good horses on my hands! :)
Please help me out and share any advice you may have when starting this breed

~ Thanks, Bopper!

I've only just started the game this month, but what I'll personally be working toward is the less basic colors, solid paints, and anything OTHER than tobiano. I love roan and sabino. I like the paints to look really special basically.

I don't know what others consider desirable, but for my own I'm working on less common colors, homozygous patterning, and solids. I've only just started with them though, never done Paints before now, so all I have is the base stock I bought to start with. What I've noticed is that there are usually at least a few really interesting ones for sale, so it hasn't been too difficult to amass a decent bunch to start with.

I breed for stats, first and foremost. Confo and color, after that.

As colors go, I'm trying to get more Brown in my herd. I've got Chestnut and various Champagne and Creams coming out my ears, anymore.

As Faraieln said, I also breed for stats first. Confo is going to become my second, and color is just an added bonus.

I personally try to pass forward the silver gene, as well as various shades of champagne and cream. Roan is also a favorite of mine.
