Anyone reccomend the Conversion Method?

#267091 Posted on 2023-03-05 19:14:58

Hi guys! I was thinking about cubing all my foals and doing the conversion method... does anyone have any tips, recommendations, or other methods?

It doesn't matter how much you "cube" and convert, you will NEVER change the base stats.

Personally, since one of my goals is to lower BASE nss stats (obviously thru breeding, the only way you can) I don't bother with the cube/convert method. It just uses up my EVDs and EVCs. I always treat using specialty specific treats.

Also, I always breed within a specialty, since cross-breeding specialties plays havoc with base stats.

To each his own. For some people, increasing the total stats is the goal, with no regard for NSS. Cubing would make more sense then.

Yeah, I know the base stats won't change x3 I now only cube horses with extra nss(Not base nss) because it's already higher so I'll have to convert anyway :P

The conversion method is mostly used to gain a decent amount of stats without having to show, but the catch is it's quite expensive (converting the specialty for 1 horse is 10k the first time, 2 credits any other time). So you're essentially paying more to be a little lazy and not competitively show (ensure your horses are in shows of 5+ horses and not competing against your other horses).

By ensuring you convert right before you are ready to breed, you're ensuring the non-specialty stats are at their absolute lowest. Though this can also be accomplished if the horse is only fed specialty specific treats their whole lives, as long as it was not a pre-recode horse (their birth stats are higher than their base stats).

So ultimately you get similar outcomes, but one takes more effort and you gain money (showing competitively), and one takes less effort but costs money (schooling/cubing/converting).

Ohhhh I've seen pre-recode horses with around 15 total base NSS, but 70 total, even though they were fed the correct treats. I always figured they were cubed at some point, thank you!
