I think the unique foal art pointed more towards the difference in breed art, draft/warmblood/light/stock horse foal basically, not to each foal colour/marking being individual to each breed.

I was holding off on commenting on this thread properly because I thought some posts were a bit ungrateful towards the release of what we have waited for years to have added to the game. We had enough problems just getting foal art released and the artist supposedly being out of contact multiple times, so I'm really not surprised in slightest that we have what we got. Furthermore, once it's signed off, the artist is under NO obligation to change the markings or continue working on it, which means if someone separate was to edit it, we would need the permission of the asset owner (aka Abbey) and make sure it's not against the artist terms to edit their finished pieces- if not, we could potentially ruin a working relationship and future art for the game that might be required. This is partially why the breeds done first don't match the breeds done later, because feedback during beta got the breeds that hadn't been done yet to be more accurate, but because the art was already signed off for the breeds done first, i.e the mustang, it wasn't to be updated from the original oversight.

While it would be nice to have matching foal/adult art, I'm just super pleased to have cute foal art and it doesn't bother me at all that they don't match the adults, it's just a game after all. Though I do support the original suggestion of updating some of the older iffy marking art to match the newer style, as it has been suggested many times before, if possible.

I support this.

I wasn't here before the recode and I understand what a huge undertaking something like this was, and I sympathize with anyone who had to deal with a flakey artist. Not cool m'dude.

But the lack of matching markings is kinda annoying. I mean obviously it's not the end of the world to have some inconsistent art (certain dragon site has hatchling and adult patterns that don't quite line up either). It just would be super nice to have an actual younger preview of my future horse. Especially since our time with the foal art has now been doubled.

(side note on someone commenting about yearlings not looking like foals: they kinda do! We had 2 year old ponies and looking back on them, they look so much like foals that they look like completely different horses to who they are now!)

I think that if a marking re-do were implemented, it would make more sense to do it one at a time. I'm not sure how long re-marking them would take but I'll estimate 2 months per breed. We have exactly 20 breeds. Some wouldn't need major art changes/art changes at all (ie Morgans cause they don't have paint and app markings) but even then, 40 months is 3 years + 4 months. It would be a long time for an update, yes, but this game is over a decade old. It's a teenager I'm pretty sure. Bring it into adulthood with matching baby art lol

I do support this because I feel like it should've been considered in the original art overhaul. I won't be hugely bothered if this suggestion gets completely shut down, but I do believe that it should be taken with serious consideration and shouldn't be a high priority. It would be an obnoxious job but for a game who advertises as realistic, I would personally deem it a necessary evil. Even if it's a low-on-the-totem-pole necessary evil.

I must say I LOVE the foal art. They look really realistic and the markings are very well done in my opinion. In fact I don´t want the mustang foals having the adult markings.

I'm not sure about matching adult patterns to foals, because it would be too matchy across breeds then, but I can see identifying some of the most inaccurate patterns on specific breeds and working on fixing those. Much like fixing silver, except it would be more targeted than that, since it would be individual patterns rather than redoing all of them.

I like that, River. Makes it easier to rationalize "oh it changed as the horse grew up!" Thank you!

The tobiano patterns on the chincoteague, mustang and shetland look like the wrong bits were coloured. I think the white patches should have had the colour, and the coloured bits should have been white.

Hi,

I agree! I don’t want to be mean here, but when I buy a paint foal with cute markings too, I want the adult to look the same.
I was going to buy(adopted) several paint foals and see what their markings look like when their adults. I’m going to keep them, I wasn’t going to get rid of them.

Is it some kind of glitch? If so, can it be fixed?
