EDIT Tesuri P2U Base Help

#13284 Posted on 2016-03-01 19:21:37

I'm sure we've all seen this base before, I bought it and now can't figure it out. I haven't touched anything within the PSD files and whatnot, but now everytime I go to color on the coat, it erases the greyscaling and only colors it flat like the P2U lines version of this.

I use GIMP (whatever is the latest version), can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I know her stuff is usually made for Photoshop, but I always use stuff made on/for Photoshop on Gimp and it works just fine..

edit: lol i had the wrong link, can anyone help me now?

Set the layer to "multiply" then duplicate? Idk but that's what usually works for me when I'm colouring.
Sorry if this is not helpful at all.

Can you give us a screenshot of the layers the PSD file has? Usually a base will have one or more layers marked "color here" or something of that nature.

Duplicate each base layer (I believe it's a body base and mane/tail base, I have edited my file so much I can't recall what's in the purchased psd). Then set the top layer of each one you duplicated to soft light, and then color the layer underneath.

I've got it something like "body base" "body color" and "mane/tail base" and "mane/tail color". The bases are whats set to soft light and then i color the one that says color.

*drag for full size view*

Box on the left is the original file set up, so you see there's a lines, eye, coat, hair, and background layer.

Box on the right is the way I set it up, and I also put it all in one folder (makes it easier for when I'm doing multiple designs). So I do a lines, eye, body base, body color, hair base, hair color, and background.

The body base is the coat layer duplicated and set to "soft light" (you'll have to play around with opacity with various colors/markings to make it look best) and then I keep the coat original layer as my "body color" layer and that's where I color.

Same concept for the hair base/hair color.

Make sense now?

Have you created a new layer, and put it on the soft light? The base colour (bay etc) layer will be over the greyscale.

Hope this helps!?
