horse colour mismatch

#119409 Posted on 2017-08-30 09:38:23

Not sure if this is a bug or not.

I bought a horse which I named Loyal Servant from the RC.  On the RC page he was listed as gray.  On opening the horse's page he turned out to be solid chestnut which is not what i wanted but hey ho conf not bad so purchased.  It did not state that he was of the graying variety.

Why was his description listed as gray? when he is a chestnut?  I have also noticed this with a few horses when trawling through the sales.

Is there a chance that his colour could be changed without using evc?

Many horses have this.

I bought about 10 horses from the rc that were 'grey' but they turned at to be buckskins, classic duns, or blacks.

I have just bought a grey which turned out to be chestnut Morgan.  Is it just one breed or does it affect all?

Are you checking their geneotypes?
A horse turns gray over a period of time, its not automatic.
If you see Gg or GG in their genes, they will grey out eventually.

This isn't a bug, it's a slight misunderstanding about how grey is shown in-game.

Horses that carry the greying gene (GG or Gg) will have their colour displayed as grey in the horse search or in the RC, because that is the colour they ultimately will become.

When you visit the horse's page, however, the coat colour listed will reflect the current colour of their coat. A horse 3 or younger who carries the grey gene will not have begun to turn grey yet (because greying is a gradual process), so their underlying coat colour will be displayed instead.

Horses that are over 3 and under 10 will have (greying) displayed next to their coat colour, to show that the greying process has begun. At age 10 a grey horse will be totally greyed out, so grey will be displayed as their colour.
