Bad way to wake up....

#80095 Posted on 2016-12-15 09:07:23

I wake up go to my door and SPIDER, I don't think I have ever screamed so loud before. It was just sitting there on my door, like come on why my room. Why not someone else's. So I threw a shoe at it and I don't know where it went....I won't go back to my room now. It looked like a mutant grasshopper spider thingy, is there even such a thing like that because that what it looked like.

Has anyone else had this problem before, I cant be the only one.

You and me both I don't like any kind of spiders so waking up to one on my door was bad. I did find it though...well the cat did anyway I think he ate it O.O which I'm glad just can't really see how a spider can taste good to a cat.

I usually don't mind spiders as long as they're not dangerous species. They give me the heebie jeebies, but they generally don't bother me if I don't bother them (now, crawling around on my bed... that is war). Typically I'll just catch them in a container and let them outside.

Silverfish? NOPE. Down the toilet they go.

Poor spider.
I catch and release harmful spiders away from the home, otherwise i let them stay.
I have two spiders in my window who call it home. They don't pay rent and they know if they bug me or my snakes or dog, they're dead. So we keep to ourselves. It's a mutual respect.

I actually have a juvenile black widow right now in the corner by my door. She and I have been waging war trying to catch her, but she's not been much of a threat so far.

Roaches and Earwigs are what get me. Not a fan of ants either. but i do not mind spiders and actually plan on owning a few tarantulas as soon as i decide where i want to put them.

None of that bothers me; I had a spider that lived in my car for months then my mom drove my car and killed it. We had some words over that, lolz.

With dangerous spiders I relocate them, but all others are totally free to stay. Like Spyder said.

I also don't mind silverfish, roaches, or earwigs. But since I'm working my way toward an eventual Entomology degree it's good that they don't bother me.

One of my favorite group of insects is Dun Beetles though; they are just such interesting little things. Most people don't care for them, but I think they are so cute. :)

this may be what you're talking about if so, they are Rhaphidorphoridae which are really just cool looking crickets and completely harmless. ;)

They're very interesting animals with really cool ecological niches, I just look at them and see a creature with a special place in this world. Imagine the world without spiders which each flies, or without flies which eat decomposing organic material. That's what I see when I look at spiders and it's hard to feel scared of something that is necessary for life on earth as we currently know it.

I will say that I am an ecology nut (I have my BS in it lol) but I understand that not everyone feels the same about the creepy-crawlers that I do.

Spiders are welcome as long as they don't get on my bed. Then they're relocated to the back yard. I'd love to have a tarantula but so far hubby & son have out voted me. My son hates silverfish so there's a constant war on them in our home. Snakes are cool. Until I became disabled we were thinking of getting a snake. Now I'm not sure I could handle one. I can't stand ants. Or mosquitoes. I feel bad about killing ants because I'm sure they serve a purpose in our world. Mosquitoes I do not feel bad about. It seems their only purpose is to spread diseases. See or hear a mosquito? SQUASH! All other bugs (but ants) get rescued.

Mosquitoes do serve an important role in the food web of many ecosystems; however if they come near me I squish them (I get really large welts from their bites so I kill on sight).

Personally I love ants, they're so interesting and have such complex social structures that I can't help but find myself mesmerized by them.
