determining stud fee

#6740 Posted on 2016-02-20 18:24:44

for those of you who put your horses up for open stud, how do you determine stud fee? comparable horses have wildly differing stud fees, so i'm just curious how you decide.

my new plan (for some of my lines) is to charge a base fee of 10k, and then adjust according to stats, conformation, and color of the stallion.

I've not got it all sorted out, but it'll be something like: +1k for every 100 stats, +1.5k for every perfect, and +1k for rarer colors.

I'm planning on making my studs cheaper in the recode than they were before, mostly to do my minor bit to help out the economy (as that's the main way I got money from other players :)

Im glad someone has asked this as I was wondering the same thing for my main account in particular as we speak!

As it is I have lowered my fees on new EV again because no one has much spare cash floating around at the moment.

Having said that as a base figure its between $10 - $15k for a lined stallion (though how the recode affects their as perfect as humanely possible lines that were on old EV I don't know) when usually they'd be $30 -$40k

I may add a little $2.5 - $5k for unusual colours/patterns but then I breed Dutchies & Trakes & patterns are hard to come by if your breeding for them! Changing no breeds to my warmbloods was an excuse to bump up my rare colours/patterns!! :D

Store/Foundation very short lined stallions with low stats will be between $5 - $10k

$100/ stat, tends to be a lot lower for lower grade horses because most people don't breed to them.
