Describe Your Dream Horse

#5613 Posted on 2016-02-19 06:45:47

I always enjoy reading what people's ideal RL horses are, so tell me about your "perfect" horse! It can be a horse you already know (or even have owned) or something you've just always pictured being "the horse" for you! I'll start...

My perfect horse would probably be relatively tall, about 16.3hh. It would be a seal brown with a broken stripe and snip and maybe one or two socks. I prefer mares, and I would love a well-bred Holsteiner. She would be clever and careful, but also totally game and bold to the jumps. Definitely scopey with the step and power for international Grand Prix.

My perfect horse would have two ears, a mouth... jkjk but I couldn't resist.

I used to ride English, but towards the end I started realizing that simply being around horses was all I really needed, and I didn't necessarily want to ride, so one day I hope to get an elderly horse that can no longer be ridden, but that I can give plenty of love to. In my totally unrealistic mind, once my favorite mare from riding retires, I'll buy her and she'll spend the rest of her life being loved on by me.

I would love a pet clysedale, possibly a gelding. He'd be a very sweet boy, and would be completely pampered like the pet he is. No idea where I'd keep him, but I can dream.

I have many many dream horses and my favorite breed is the Mustang, however...

I would looooooove a 17hh warmblood/draft cross in light palomino. Blaze tapering off into an interrupted stripe, at least 2 white feet, light dapples. Ughhhhhhhhhh

My dream horse would have to be a dapple grey that's around 16.2hh (over 16hb but not bigger than 17.2hh). Maybe a Trakehner or some type of Warmblood/TB cross. Preferably a gelding with some white markings. Since I ride English, I would love to have a horse I can go to shows with and jump.

I'm also a sucker for buckskin warmbloods with lots of white, but I love the dapple greys a bit more :)

A nice chestnut with a blaze and four stockings would make my life, I also ride english so he'd need to be able to jump at least 2'6, no preference on breed but since I am 5'11 i'd do a minimum of 16.2 hands. Smooth canter and forward trot, and knees baby knees :o

@Cat
Considering that virtually all warmblood type breeds were created and refined (and still outcross) with Thoroughbred blood, you'd be looking at a more recent outcrossing. Definitely an easy thing to find, so your dream horse is out there somewhere! One reason I always laugh at those condescending "warmblood people" who look down on Thoroughbreds as if they're garbage XD

I already have my dream horse :)

My dream horse will ALWAYS be my Diablo. ♥ He is a white grey markingless Arabian stallion. Every book I have ever written have included him, and they will continue to do so. ;) Heck, even some of my English coursework pieces have included him. LOL.

If he could do it, we would learn how to do dressage, ride on lots of trails and perhaps get my confidence back at jumping! (They'll only be small loool)

My other dream horse would be Helix (minus the red eyes and hooves!). She is a markingless black Arabian mare. I simply love Arabs!

My dream is to find Diablo one day. I've been told many times that it's impossible, and that I'm clinging onto a false hope, but I WILL find him. ^^

lol.

I used to ride this bay pony named Copper. He was a morab and boy could he jump. He had a goofy personality, and what I wouldn't give to have him back in my life again ♥

My dream pon is a well-broke western Quarter Horse gelding (probably over 15hh) of any color. I would prefer a QH, but any breed would do as long as it wasn't dainty like an Arab- I also love mules lol. I love grullas and seal browns, but color doesn't really matter to me as long as the horse has an amazing temperament and is willing to do whatever. I also love stocky builds, but like I said looks don't matter as much as personality.

Don't get me wrong, I love my horse now to death, but she can be a butt. I like challenges though, it teaches you a ton more than having a horse that'll do everything!

Here is a good example of what I would look for build-wise. This is an english horse, and I don't know this horse, but it's a great example of what I would look for!

My dream horse would be any type of breed have brown eyes, any type of color, a mare, and maybe some white socks with a star on the forehead. Her name would be Whisper or her show name Whispering a Lullaby. Her temperament would be a hot headed, great on trails, always nickered a warm hello when I go to ride her or just do something fun with her. A great eventer and trail horse. If I could I would breed her to a stallion who is a wild horse and I would let them live together in the wild and Whisper would always come back to me. I would paint pictures of the stallion and her together with a lovely little foal.
But a girl can dream!!!

My dream horse would be a either a Quarter Horse, or an Appaloosa. S/He would have a dark coat that looks almost black but looks like a pretty dark brown in the sunlight. S/He would have warm brown eyes, a stripe going down it's nose, and a cornet on one leg. They would be an excellent Western horse, mostly in reining. I'm always up for a feisty, exciting, but lovely horse that would definitely be my best friend for a long time. Another horse I would love to have is any type of Knabstrup, I find them absolutely beautiful.

Im not too big on what a horse looks like as long as their conformation doesn't cause any physical problems. Goofy looking but sound and without discomfort or issues is a-ok with me.

Mare, gelding, whatever. But personality is what I'd love. One I could feel confident with and would actually grow as attached to me as I would to them. Good to pop over small courses, didn't bounce me out of my tack, would be forgiving of my riding mistakes, and could go bitless. I've never ridden a horse trustworthy enough to phase them into a bitless bridle... I seem to find the geldings who forget they're gelded and act stupid.

Something that I could be just as happy on in an open field... And not try to run away (with me) and never go back. I had a QH who was convinced he belonged in the Triple Crown whenever there was open land ahead of him.

Calm but fun is the short end of that. Rode a few ponies back in the day who I loved (even when they did remind me they were a pony). Perhaps one day I'll find an old school horse I can relax with and I can pamper senseless.
