The "Convert Training" states the following: "When you convert your horse's training, the specialty will change to whatever you choose, and the horses earned stats will be divided evenly between the two main stat groups for that discipline. " Now, as the worry wart I am, I actually bought a horse to just switch the discipline on, to confirm that this does happen, and alas it does. So the question comes about... Will you buy a horse of a different discipline, if it's the color/gender/etc you want, and just switch the discipline? As I'm starting to consider venturing into Dressage Paints, I want to make sure these horses will still have some interest in them, whether from Dressage breeders or otherwise. If people wouldn't want to consider switching the discipline to switch stats, then there'd not be as strong of a point to keep me with Dressage. So your thoughts?

Yes (I have already done this with many of my clydes because I'm training them in Endurance and most people are doing driving).

I was given two No Breeds yesterday to make some Clydesdale's for my lines.

Unlikely. The only reason I did it with my horses is that I had very little choice in the matter.

There are only 2 pages of dressage paints so you might have a valid reason to worry.

Be a rebel, you know you wanna ;) Though I understand your concerns putting in all that work and then having "serious" breeders ignore your horses because of their specialty can frustrating. (I had some issues with my TWHs because they were western rather than endurance; however in the end I was able to sell them for quite a lot of money so it was okay for me.)

I've already done this. While ultimately the specialty stats suffer slightly on a lined horse when I change disciplines, imo stats are relatively easy to improve via breeding or good treats. In the long run I'm more concerned with horses that have good conformation as I feel like it's going to be more difficult to achieve my goals in super high conformation relative to my goals of high stats.

Go for it. :) I actually need to change some of my Vanners disciplines into dressage. Luckily they're mostly store bought, but yeah. I think it's cool to have a variety within each breed tbh. Keeps things interesting. I also know some players, myself included, would be willing to help with rare breeding projects when they are in need of help. I do that on other sims with some frequency. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside lol.

I breed Chincoteagues, and I've changed specialties on several horses I've purchased. It's hard to find high-stat Chincos for sale, so when I find them, I try to scoop them up and switch them. As mentioned, their original birth stats remain the same, so if they were bred to Western, that will impact their suitability for Show Jumping, but it's not a huge deal if they have a large number of acquired stats. I'm still getting a boost for my herd.
