Room mate herd some mewling in the garage. Guess what he had found? A litter of kittens. 2 girls and 2 boys. Sable or lilac points (siamese lookin) aaand an odd ball.

I'll share pics, but, monday, we'll be taking them up to get adopted, or put up flyers for free kittens. Already got to many cats. Dont need to end up a crazy cat man yo.

*_* I can't wait to see pictures! I just love sable or lilac points!

How old are they? If they are younger than 8 weeks, keep eye out for momma cat and wait until they are at least 8 weeks before adopting them out!

If you got money (or live near to vet, like Emancipet, that will snip them for cheap or free)... I would get them fixed before adopting out. Don't want them to wander away from their new home and come back knocked up... or sired to god know how much kittens.

they're definitely between 6-8 weeks. Plan to look out for her, BUUUT, Also going to be getting some kitten formula tomorrow, just to make sure they get the necessary taurine if we cant find mama until we can get them out to a vet or adoption places. Roomie is out in the garage rn, suspect there may be one more, and he's trying to see about catching it.

The humane society here, if you can prove government assisstance of any sort, and I am on food stamps, they will give vouchers for 20 bucks that includes fixing, shots and disease/parasite testing.

I just got done bathing them. Poor little critters were INFESTED with fleas. ._.

Oh yeah, I know the pain. We have to rescued two feral kittens, Bat and Bug, few years ago and those poor things were infested with fleas. We actually have to bathe them several times before finally get rid of them. That's where Bug got her name; Mum thought Bat, orange tabby, has more fleas than Bug, dark tortie, and was deeply mistaken. She was horrified when she saw all fleas jumped off Bug and named her Bug on spot XD

do not give them away for free because malicious people will snatch up free animals such as kittens and use them as bait for dog fights. They'll act like an interested owner just to get it. It's sick. That's why so many rescues have an adoption fee. I'd say work with a local rescue to get them taken care of. Some of the rescues near me only take in animals registered with ACS so maybe work out something where you can surrender the kittens to animal care services and the rescue picks them up and gets them fostered so that they don't end up on a kill list.

Shinku, I think that kind of thoughts are complete paranoia. Yes, it happens. But no where near the rate so many people think. I doubt that it would be something to happen in my particular area with any notable frequency either, tbh. I understand and appreciate the concern, but I just don't think it's something to worry too much about where I am right now. :)

Last time I was at the Humane Society, they refused to take anymore cats, so I am very doubtful they'd even have a place for them, or that any fosters they have would (their fosters were full then too). So I have very little hope for that, and do not mind fostering them until they can find homes. The best bet honestly, is taking them to the vet, but that's no garuntee. I would be posting the flyers at vets, and at pet stores (if they permit. Some actually do around here) to let them have a better chance at going to a home that does genuinely want them.

Yeah, vets are good place to start. My friend had a good luck with adopting out a cat through vet. Family, friends, and co-workers are next best plan. Don't forget those who you haven't talk in years! We adopted out Bat and Bug to an acquaintance. We totally forgot about that family because we grew apart. It was lucky that my mom remembered them and contacted them because mum was ready to take them to shelter. Their girls adore Bat and Bug and we knew right away that they are meant to be.

Sneaky but good way to get a home for kitten or two... if you know anyone who can be good parent to a kitten. Trick them into babysit one or two and hopes that they will fall in love XD
I live in a dorm so when my friend rescued a cat. He doesn't want to keep the cat and pets aren't allowed in dorm. It was a pure luck that it happened right before the spring break. We asked our friend's friend, Thad, who lived off campus to babysit the cat during spring break since everyone will be out of the town. Thad fell in love with the cat and kept him XD

Working closely with local rescues and being an employee at a pet store that works with even more, I can tell you it's not paranoia. And I live in a nice part of town. I'm not pulling this out of my butt lol.
Fosters drop off kittens at our store all the time and we adopt them out and care for them. Ours have to be registered through one of two rescues we work with, maybe something similar can be done in your case?

You're not the only one that's done volunteer work :)

Area does play a major role in it too. Some things are more prevalent than others. It may be prevalent in your area, but it's really not a big issue in mine.

Anyways, here's a pic of the little rascals.

I don't volunteer lol but thanks for the assumption. I work at a neighborhood pet store that has connections with the main rescues in the city and some breed specific ones. We house kittens from fosters from specific rescues. I talk with the fosters and organizers on a near daily basis.
Area is irrelevant. Free kitties isn't the best thing in general because it invites non-serious owners, even if animal violence isn't an issue where you live. If you're giving them away to friends or family that's fine, but strangers? I think you should either find good homes for them yourself with people you know and trust or surrender them to a rescue to be fostered where they will end up charging an adoption fee.

They're cute tho
